Ryan's P.O.V
A normal camping trip. A typical thought for little outings such as this one. My boyfriend and I only wanted to have a nice little trip. What a fucking joke. It was October 21st, 2023. We were both 19. Freshly graduated from high school. Alex had moved to Kansas, and we moved into a small apartment together. We had been online dating for a while, but eventually, decided it was time to move into an apartment together. After graduation, we decided to celebrate with a simple camping trip. Bring some booze, some games. Just something sweet and simple. Things were going swimmingly.

I noticed that the fire was beginning to go dim, so I stood up. "Hey, babe, I'm gonna head into the forest and grab some wood for the fire. Stay here, okay?" I said to him. Alex looked up, giving me a smile. "Alright. Will do." He saluted jokingly at me, causing me to giggle. I grabbed a flashlight, and headed into the forest. I looked around for a good pile of branches, fallen from towering trees. "Hmm. Ah, here we go." I said, putting the flashlight in my mouth, and picking up a few branches. That's when I heard crunching in the distance. I figured it was Al trying to scare me. He let out a chuckle, and put the wood under one arm, and took hold of the flashlight, shining it around. "Very funny, Al. Come on, stop hiding. Where are you?" He laughed softly. I got no response. I only heard a growl. That's when I started to get nervous. "Alex, seriously, this isn't funny. Babe, where are you?" I said, backing up a little.

I shined my flashlight, and landed on something hunched over a dead deer. I stared at it a moment, before it turned around, staring at me with glowing eyes, and sharp teeth ripping through its lips. I let out a blood curdling scream, and ran through the woods, hearing it screech angrily behind me. I made it back to camp, throwing the wood at the fire, and then broke into a sob. Alex got up immediately, and ran my way. I was fucking hysterical. He grabbed my shoulders, and placed one hand on my cheek, turning my head to face him, staring into my eyes. "Honey, darling. Look at me. What happened? Are you okay? Are you hurt?" He asked frantically. Tears ran down my face. "I-I saw something, Al! I-It was horrible.. I-I—" he cut me off with a kiss, and the. Pulled away. "Honey, you're-.. you're tired. You probably just saw an animal." I shook my head.

"That THING was NOT an animal!" I shouted, as I gripped my hair, shaking. He stared at me. "I'm not crazy, Alexander." I said, looking at him. "You have GOT to trust me." I said, sobbing quietly.

Once we made it to the campsite, I was ecstatic. I couldn't wait to spend the whole weekend camping with my boyfriend. This was all Ryan's idea. And damn, was it a good idea. We managed to steal some booze, and book it. So we planned on getting wasted, of course. I was doodling on a piece of scrap paper, as I heard Ryan get up. I looked up at him, tilting my head. "Hey, babe, I'm gonna head into the forest and grab some wood for the fire. Stay here, okay?" Is what he said to me. I nodded. "Alright. Will do." And then saluted, as if I were a soldier. He giggled. I melted a little, and watched him walk away. A few minutes passed. I heard some weird noises.

I looked around a bit, my pointed ears peeking up a bit. "Mmh." I squinted slightly, and stood up, crossing my arms. I looked around, staying quiet. "Ah, probably nothing—" I jolted, hearing my boyfriend scream in the distance, and then heard running. I caught him quickly, and gripped his shoulders. He was hysterical. He went on and on about something he saw. Once I got him slightly calmed down, I sat him down. His legs were bleeding. He must of run into some thorn bushes while running from whatever the hell he saw. I grabbed some bandages from our first aid kit, and wrapped his legs. "Darling, please, get some rest." I said to him. He shook his head, crawling over to me, and laying on top of me. He buried his nose into my neck, and started to cry again. God, I hated when he cried. It broke my heart, knowing he's so scared, and afraid. I wrapped my demon-like tail around him, and planted a kiss on his head.

"Honey, explain to me what you saw." I said to him gently. He sat up a bit, and looked at me. I sat up with him, placing my hands on his hips gently, pressing my forehead against his. "Please?" I mumbled. He let out a small giggle. Good. I'm making him happier. He started talking.

"It was awful, Al." I mumbled to him. He had asked me what I saw. I obliged. I looked at the fire, my eyes watering. "It was hunched over, eating what looked like a dead deer, with its stomach ripped open." I started to tremble, hugging myself. "It was thin, extremely thin. I could basically see its bones through its skin." I looked up at him. "Grey. Its skin was grey." I shook my head, as I gripped my hair. "It had glowing white eyes, and... teeth ripped through its lips. It was covered in blood." When I looked back at Alex, he was pale. He looked shocked, and like he'd seen a ghost.

I slightly tilted my head. "A-Al? Are you okay?" I asked, staring up at him. He looked at me, as he picked me up, and ran inside of the tent, zipping it closed. "I know what you saw." He said, as he held me close. "I thought it was a myth. And I'm going to believe you. Because I know you would never lie to me." I stared at him, and hugged him tight, closing my eyes. "What is it called?" I asked, almost hesitantly. Everything went quiet a moment. He finally spoke. "The rake." He said. It was at that moment, we heard a noise outside. I looked up, and almost let out a scream. Alex quickly covered my mouth. We both watched. The creature was outside of the tent. It's shadow was lanky, and bony. It let out a gurgle, as it passed by. It stopped finally. Right in front of the tent.

The rake stopped in front of Ryan and Alexander's tent, letting out a growl, and raising its clawed hand. It scratched open the tent, and screeched at the two. Ryan screamed, and Alex hugged onto his boyfriend. "Go away! Go away!" He yelled, and looked around for something to use as a weapon. He found a knife that was with their bags, and grabbed it, stabbing the creature in the eye with it, buying them time to book it. He scooped Ryan up, and bolted out. He ran as fast as he could, hearing the creature screech at them in the background, beginning to run after. Ryan was sobbing. Alex was on the brink of tears. He had to keep his boyfriend safe. He fell, and dropped Ryan, laying on the ground. Ryan looked up, and choked up a bit. There stood the rake, staring at Ryan. It grabbed him and pinned him up against a tree, digging its claws into Ryan's neck. He let out a pained scream, and kicked his legs. It scratched across the males face, and then screeched painfully. It was stabbed again.

It whipped around, and scratched the gremlin hybrid in the face. Alex let out a pained yell, and collapsed, holding his face. "You little-.." he coughed, and stood up. He was scratched across the stomach as well, and pinned down. Ryan weakly stood up, and grabbed a stick. He shakily limped towards the rake, and while it was distracted, stabbed it through the back, and out the other side. It screeched again, and fled. Ryan collapsed, holding his neck. Both him, and Alex were bleeding horribly. Alex looking up weakly, and gasped. "R-..yan..." he breathed out weakly, and grabbed his phone, calling 911. Once the operator spoke, he choked out a small "Help.." and passed out.

They were taken to the hospital that same night, with major injuries. The rake is still out there, waiting for it's next prey. And this time, it's prey won't get away.
