spring evening

the day was calm. on the contrary, jungkook was not. homework, homework, revision, homework and his father. once again he was yelling at jungkook for no particular reason.
"calm down honey!" jungkooks mother soothed her husband. he sighed, and staring at jungkook, left the room.
"maybe you should go study outside?" jeon soonyung, his mother, suggested.
realising there was no reason to deny her suggestion, jungkook headed out the back door, taking his study materials with him.

he tended not to go outside, mostly because there was no where to sit, but also because everything was covered in a layer of moss. he much preferred the comforts of his own room, where he could play music and lie on his bed. he looked around the garden. there was an open area of grass, then to the left, a large hedge hid a small bench. next to the bench was a flower bed. overgrown and unkempt, there were many weeds littering the flowers soonyung had carefully planted last spring. with a small sigh, jungkook walked over to the bench, only to notice an intricate statue, previously hidden by the hedge.

he drew in a surprised breath, and marvelled the statue. it was a man, possibly in his early twenties. the statue was, and despite jungkooks embarrassment to admit it, very attractive. as he moved closer to inspect the statue, he noticed one of his eyes was a monolid and the other a double lid. curiosly, he touched the statues face, his hand trailing down to rest on it's shoulder. everything felt so realistic. if it weren't stone cold to the touch, he might have mistaken him for a living being. the statue was sat on a stone chair, hands in his lap with a relaxed, yet somehow shocked, expression. scraping off the moss from the bench jungkook sat down, resting his hand on the cool stone of the statue's thigh. began to study, finding the outside worlds natural melody of birds and wind quite a pleasing sound.

an hour later, jungkook had finished his studies. the sun still shone brightly in the baby blue sky, so he decided to stay outside for a while longer. basking in the gentle rays of the evening sun, jungkook sighed,
"who are you?" he asked the statue, "and why haven't i noticed you before?"

when he really thought about it, jungkook found the statue unnerving. it felt almost as if it was human. he gazed over at it, his eyes searching for any answers to his question within the realistic stone.
once again, he murmered the question,
"who are you?"

jungkook walked away. when he was no longer within hearing distance, a deep voice quietly answered his question,

"my name is kim taehyung. but im not sure if i can trust you yet."
