Wyatt's POV
After a few hours of packing and loading boxes on to the moving truck, I entered my father's 4-door, matte black Jeep Wrangler, and laid my head on the window of the passenger seat. I got out my phone and sent a quick update to my friend, Georgie, letting her know that I would be on the move soon. I guess this is goodbye to "Balandale", for now at least.
But I mean... it isn't so bad, right? Sure, I am moving with my father because his company opened up a new firm in Deaton, and they need a General Manager to run the place perfectly. That paired up well with my umm academic situation... heh. It's not like I even liked Balandale all that much anyway. That place holds way too many memories; good and bad. Sadly, I am too uncomfortable to discuss either... sigh
Back to reality, well, I mean, I basically just laid my head on the window to sleep, but, I guess, my father had other plans. As he got into the car, shut the door, and started the engine, he sighed deeply then looked over at me and sighed again.
"Hey, son. I know this is quite hard on you, leaving Balandale all of a sudden, leaving your life, school, friends, leaving your-" he started, but I quickly cut him off before he could continue his pointless rambling.
"Nah, it is okay dad, don't worry about it. It honestly does not even matter. I just, I just hope that Deaton can offer us a new page to start a good life. Now if you'll excuse me, I think I'm going to nap, considering it is going to be a few hours before we get there." I basically ended the conversation by closing my eyes, hoping he would not say any further word. Thankfully, he just sighed and started moving the car, heading towards Deaton.

My eyes shot open with a particularly heavy thud of the car passing over an intense speed bump. I check the clock encased within the car front, in a panicked haze, and realized that around 3 hours had passed. Almost there ...
That hurt my neck (A.N: my back lick ma- ok nO). I stretched it out a bit, and massaged the back of my neck trying to ease up the pain, or make it crack, or both ... both are good. Anyways, I decided to check with my father and how he was doing with the immensely entertaining car ride (note my sarcasm ...please). I looked over at him, noticing his facial expression composed of boredom and just pure tiredness? I guess that's what happens when you've been driving a car for a few hours, without any help from your exceptionally productive and talented son. I sighed in contemplation of whether I should spark up a conversation with him or not, then agreed with my thoughts. I groaned softly to make my awake status known so I would not surprise him when I start talking.
"Hey dad, how far along are we?" I start as I turn my head to face him, yet keep my eyes closed. Honestly speaking, I was kind of hoping he would not answer me, or at least directly, so I can fall asleep again. However, as I am not the luckiest in life, I was met with an enthusiastic answer almost immediately.
"Oh, you woke up! That's good. I've been driving for about three hours now. We will arrive in less than thirty minutes, I presume. Feeling refreshed after that nap of yours?"
I mean, I love my father, I really do- no, I'm not joking- but like who actually wants to converse with people as soon as they wake up? God, Wyatt, why are you so dumb sometimes? Like genuinely, I just don't really think some things through before following my thoughts. A curse... and a blessing? I don't even know. But, I guess, I did bring this upon myself, so better suck it up and pretend like I'm happy about it.
"Yeah... it was great, but my neck started to hurt, maybe not the best decision I've taken in my life but ... pretty worth it." I replied chuckling slightly. "How are you doing, you know, with the drive and everything? Tired?" I continued as my eyes drifted to the beautifully colored leaves slowly slipping off of the trees, and decorating the ground with their brown, red, orange, and yellow shades.
"Well, just a bit tired, but I'm doing alright. I am very excited actually! We're almost there, and I can't wait to get settled in Deaton. I know you say that you are fine with everything that has happened, and I know that it came into place with all that did happen with you back in Balandale, but just know that I'm here for you, and I hope Deaton will be good for you. Clearing your mind and all." He said as his lips twitched into a barely visible, but still existent, smile.
I sighed in defeat. "I hope so too dad. I hope so too."
Oh God Deaton! I hope you're good. Don't fuck me over please, I don't think I can handle it, not anymore. Georgie ...buckle the fuck up, we're going on an unexpected adventure when I get there.
