Dear diary,
Another day, another dollar, right?
The fresh air gently breezing through my window followed by the early sun seeping through my thin crimson drapes.

I walked to school with my friends like normal. Nothing unusual, just the same conversations about our families and the classes we have along with the homework we have to suffer with from Mr Peterson's class. God, I hate Physics.

Like normal, we walked through the front doors and greeting everyone from left to right like always.
But..
Theres this one boy I've never seen before. I knew everyone! I talk to everyone every day.

My friend Kate said to me about how he's new from Detroit or something. I couldn't really focus on what she was saying, I felt distracted by him as we watched his every hesitant move.

I stared at the boy like I've never seen something so fascinating. Which is weird from me, honestly.

Devan.. I kept mumbling to myself constantly as I tried to work up the confidence to greet him.

I had to go talk to him! He was new and needed someone who was educated about the school.
My hands were so sweaty as I tried to pull of the not-so-nervous-look.

I don't think he bought it.

He was like a shadow.
Just creeping around in the corners.

It was cute, though, to me anyway. He was like the quiet mouse and I was the gracious lion, you'd expect the lion to prey on the mouse, but in most cases, that's not true.

I asked him his first class and I offered to walk him, but he didn't really say much. He sort of glared at me for a while, but then mumbled to me that I could if I wanted.

Of course I wanted to, I mean why else would I ask?

Turns out we were in the same class for math and for art, great right?

The teacher introduced him to the class and he hid his face like a turtle in it's shell, afraid.

I kept seeing him wandering the halls alone, getting pushed around to the point he stood at a class door to wait till the halls had calmed, but then caused him to be late, which caused the humiliation of being shouted at.

I sat in two periods straight bouncing my leg at the side of my chair as I was worried about how he was doing alone. I couldn't get him off of my mind.

I was going crazy!

The bell for lunch had rang, as soon as I got outside of the class I rushed to see his class so I could help him from the crowd.

But I saw something I never wanted to. Some members from the football team were surrounding him and I could barely catch what they were saying.

I walked a little closer and shouted on them, they just laughed and gave their attention back to him.

I ran to the principal's office and told him about it happening, he ran into the room and shouted at them all, pointing to his office.

He pat my back as the boys went to his office, giving me the eyes of a hungry wolf.

I saw Devan and he ran over to me and hugged me while quivering in fear. My heart jumped as I held him in embrace.

I brushed the hair out of his eyes and I see they caused him to cry.

Later, the principal called for me and Devan to come to the office to explain what had happened. We told him and then the football team were later sent home, causing the football match between our school and the washers from Walter high to be cancelled.

It was gonna be a big match as well.
Oh well. Karma finds it's way, doesn't it?

I'm waiting to hear that they're gonna end up kicked out of the team and maybe even the school, but for now they're suspended for a few days.

He'll be safe for a while now. he'll stay in my arms until he doesn't want to be.

Until he's ready on his own.

Every day I would walk with him to school, one time I sneaked my hand into his and no one noticed but I could tell he was shy about it, his hand became a little sweaty and I could see his cheeks turn a little red. I felt his whole body jump!

I walked him to class then walked to mine, left my class as soon as I could to get him from his class, get him lunch, sit with him at lunch, walk him home, but whenever we walked home or to school we had to part not far from his home because of his dad.

One day he came to my door upset, that's when I got real angry. I had enough! He was abusing Devan and I had enough of it. I called the police. They took him down, turns out he's really wanted in other states as well.

Devan stared at me as if superman just swooped down and saved the day for him.

Next thing I knew he was kissing me. That's one of the best days of my life.

The reason today's diary is pass tense is because I've been busy spending time with him. My best life has begun.

~ Sincerely, Kelan
