Chapter 5 - Enike

Me and the gym have never quite been in a loving relationship, we are more along the line of in-laws. I go when I want to, and lately that has been pretty often. Stress can do a lot to a body, and being a business owner tends to come with a lot of it. Walking into the gym I am allowed to leave everything outside and only work on my body. Heading into the locker room to change gives me a few minutes to decide on what I want to do. Weights have never been my thing, so running out my problems should do the trick just fine. Picking a treadmill is pretty easy since there are few people at the gym this late at night. I start with a jog for about 30 minutes so I am able to find a pace that will be comfortable to run in. I tend to blank out when I run, so I do not see the person a few machines down from me begin their own routine.

Breaking out into a run I start to think of Kai, who happens to be the main reason for this late night trip. Why am I all of a sudden feeling attracted to an employee? I know my rules, and my staff and I have never had a problem following them. Do I regret hiring him? You know you don't stupid, he is practically the main attraction in the T room now. The women love him, and the staff enjoy his company. I only realize my temper has risen when I realize I am practically sprinting. Slowing my breathing as well as my speed gives me the opportunity to look to my right at the soul who occupies the machine.

When I register who it is I slowly turn off the treadmill and wipe it down. He is the last person that I want to see, and the only way to the locker room is right past him. I am almost past him he suddenly steps off the machine, and backs right into me.

"I am so sorry I didn't realize that anyone was... Enike?" the last part comes out more as a question than an apology and I know there is no point in trying to escape now.

" Kai, I didn't realize it was you who was running. I'm just gonna change and head home. See you tomorrow afternoon." I pretend not to notice the look of confusion on his face as I practically run to the locker room to change, not taking the time to grab a quick shower. Heading to the entrance to leave I can't help but notice his  shirtless reflection in the glass. As I open the door and steal one more look, our eyes meet and the look of confusion is taken over by one more primal and needy.
