Third Person POV

It is crowded in the supermarket. Yet, the air conditioner manages to keep the place cool. Pushing the trolley which is already filled with a few packets of goods, Clerence spots the soya sauce listed on his mother's bucket list. "There you are," he mutters in satisfaction as this is the last item needed for their Christmas Eve dinner.

After putting the heavy glass bottle into the trolley, he calls his mother to meet her at the cashier. "Nice work, boy," says his mother happily. She arrives the addressed meeting place right after 5 minutes she has received her son's phone call. The bottle of soya sauce has cost her so much time around the Kitchen Corner. "We do make a good team, aren't we?"

"Yes, we are mum," replies Clerence with a flirty wink and a nod.

"Naughty bastard," mutters his mother with a smile which she fails to hide. "You even tried to flirt with your mum." They laugh at the statement as everyone else is looking. Yet, they don't care. As long as their mother-son relationship still works smoothly, it is all that matters. "C'mon, let's go." She utters after paying for the goods they choose, their hands carrying different sizes of bags with different types of groceries when leaving for the parking lot.

"Yeah, Sasha must be tired of meditating all by her own in the house," says Clerence with a cute chuckle. After a few more minutes of walking, though with their fingers feeling sore due to the heavy bags, they finally reach the car. And just as they are about to put in the bags of groceries into the car boot, the woman's phone rings.

It's an unknown number. But it looks like a number called from a company.

Giving her son a short moment of gesture, she successfully asks him to open the car boot so that both of them can put in the heavy bags. The phone is still ringing with the woman's favourite song. She quickly presses the cover of the boot and picks up the call without any hesitation.

A mature lady's voice penetrates through the other side of the line.

"Hello, I am calling from the Search Team. Are you Mrs Cartwright?" asks the lady professionally while Clerence's mother freezes with her mouth opened. Words are stuck in between her throat as finally, she can doubt that this is about her beloved daughter.

She manages to adjust her emotions before answering, "Y-yes, I am." With her expression changes from happy to serious, her voice becomes deep. "D-did you find m-my daughter?" This is the first time for Clerence to see her mother stutter over a phone call. The way she cares about her daughter is shown explicitly through her raw speech. "I'm sorry if this sounds rude by the way, I'm really sorry, I-I just miss her very, very much..." And she bursts into tears without warning.

Upon seeing this, the only son quickly hugs his mother as a sign of comforting. At the same time, he won't forget to send a few soft pats on her back while soothing her with convincing words like "Breath in and out". Reacting upon his boyfriend-material behaviour, Mrs Cartwright leans into her son's lap while listening to the lady on the phone.

"Y-yes, Mrs Cartwright." The lady answers, again with the tone sounded like an AI. "We have found your daughter, Caterina Cartwright, at the coast of Byron Bay and she is still alive. We have issued her hospitalization in..."

Hearing the word 'alive' is already enough. Having streams of tears brimming on her cheeks, she looks at Clerence while the boy tries to analyse her expression. Soon enough, he gets it - his mother's teary but smiley face tells the good news. And with his good sense of hearing, well, sort of, he heard the word 'Search Team' at the very beginning of the conversation. "Catie..."

"...is alive!"

As happy as larks, Mrs Cartwright and her son hug each other even tighter after the call is ended. Both weeping with pure joy. "We have to tell Sasha about this!!" Their mood swings elevate to the highest level without them knowing it. Clerence is literally jumping around the car before hopping into the passenger seat alongside with his mother into the driver seat.

"Sure, you have to, my son," agrees Mrs Cartwright while playing with a few strands of her son's hair. Jabbing the key into the power source, she starts the car engine before pulling off of the parking site.

Their smiles brighter than the sunny day.
