"What was that sound?", Shriya wondered if she had imagined the sound or was it the sound of the thunder.

She got a glimpse of a masked man in the reflection of the mirror in her bedroom. They were being robbed. The violins in Arjun's famous song's intro was starting to play in her head. It was a catchy tone, a little somber but it made her happy. She had to act quickly. Her eyes fell on Arjun's cricket bat, she picked it up and tiptoed towards the bedroom.

"Wham", the bat caught the thief on back of his head, he fell in a heap.

Her hair stood on end. The song chorus playing louder in her head, "Woh Baarishein..."

There was a second thief, a gun pointed back at her. This was it, she had the same feeling a week ago, while driving to town. Six seconds of brakes yet the tempo driver had cornered her towards the ravine. This was much slower.

She felt damp as the song in her mind played on. Was this how it felt at the end. A chill crept up her spine - she took a step back. She could not focus on the thief's trigger finger. The open French window behind her splattered a cold mist-she felt the same cool sweatiness on her body. Her body wet just like the song in her head.

                   "Woh Baarishein ..."

She couldn't feel her stomach. Had the bullet hit her? She could hear the rain fall on the grass outside. She could imagine the drops except the drops were blood red. She saw the squeezed finger, and felt herself reeling backwards onto the window sill. Her world spinning, pictures of her first meeting with Arjun in the rain. He was singing to her, playing a grand piano in the rain. Was he crying? She couldn't make out - the rainwater on her face caused a blur. She was in the grass and could see the patio.

The same place where Arjun had pulled her into the rain and they had danced their heart out. Hugging each other, kissing, overjoyed about their new house in the hills.

                      "Woh Baarishein ..."

Arjun looked so handsome as he sang the song, such melody, The pitter-patter of the rain had drenched her body. She could not feel much, and imagined her bullet wound oozing blood which then mixed in the dark brown mud. She tried to smell the wet mud, but choked. At least they had had their moments. Oh Arjun! He would be devastated, she had tried to video chat with him earlier, but the weather had made the cell-towers bad. She was sure she did the right thing with the bat. The lyrics matched her thoughts.

"Oh! What had things come to now?

The question repeating just like in the chorus. She was living her life's happiest moments lying there. Is this how death felt like? Oh! The violins and how they got bleak!
