Terry

It was a normal day in Kansas City, for Terry, Aj, and Ty. Terry, Aj, and Ty were all best friends. They had been friends since they were kids and were always hanging out. Terry, Aj, and Ty were hanging out at the Legends. With Terry being the only girl, she shopped the most. It took Terry hours to find just one outfit. While Terry and the boys were shopping she talked about Mason. However, Aj and Ty didn't know the truth about her and Mason. As they're talking, Terry gets a text from her foster mom Angela, saying that she had to get home right away.

Terry, Aj, and Ty all get into Aj's car and go to Terry's house. When they arrived, they all walked in only to be greeted by Jennifer and Angela waiting for Terry. Jennifer, who is Terry and Mason's social worker then says to Terry that Mason was placed in a bad home. Terry's mind goes blank and Jennifer goes on to say that Mason had been abused by his foster parents because he cried every night. Jennifer then breaks the news that Mason is in the hospital fighting for his life. When Jennifer gives Terry the news she gets very emotional. After Terry came to and put everything together she then asked Jennifer what hospital Mason was at, Jennifer told her Children's Mercy. Terry, Angela, Aj, Ty, Jennifer and the rest of Terry's foster family all went to the hospital. When they arrived, Jennifer and Terry immediately asked for Mason's doctor. The doctor then came out and told Terry and Jennifer that Mason had to have emergency surgery for the injuries he sustained. Terry asked how bad were his injuries and what were his injuries. The doctor went on to say that Mason had severe injuries to the brain and ribcage. The doctor then tells Terry that judging by his injuries it looked as if Mason was beaten repeatedly with a pipe or wooden object. Terry then went into shock. She started to panic because she thought she would lose the only blood relative she had left. Her foster mom and social worker then tried to get her to calm down. She was surrounded by friends and family and tried to relax. She tried to stay calm but there was still some part of her in a panic mood. After four long hours of being in surgery the doctor comes out and tells Terry and her family that because Mason's condition was so bad, he passed away. The family was upset and very hurt. Terry was so hurt and upset that she went into shock and fainted. The doctors then admitted Terry and monitored her.

After being admitted Terry came to about an hour after. When she came to she then attempted to commit suicide because she didn't want to live without Mason. She was then diagnosed with situational depression caused by traumatic events and stress. After she was diagnosed she then confesses to her social worker and foster mom, Jennifer, and Angela that Mason wasn't her little brother, he was actually her son. Jennifer and Angela were both shocked. Angela goes on to ask who was the father and if she was sure she knew who the father was. Terry then goes on to say that she was raped by her uncle at a very young age and up till she got pregnant in the seventh grade. She then says that she was forced to keep it a secret. Terry then says to Angela and Jennifer that her mom made her say Mason was her little brother, so they wouldn't get into trouble. But it was too late, Terry's seventh-grade teacher noticed that she was acting strange and asked Terry what was wrong. Terry then tells her teacher that she was raped by her uncle so her teacher calls DCFS with no hesitation. A DCFS agent was sent to her house and her mom tells the agent that Terry was not raped and that Terry was a compulsive liar. Her mom then tells the agent that there was no need for a rape kit to be done and refused to get her daughter tested. Terry then goes on to say that the day before she entered eighth grade her uncle raped her again. She then says that she was raped every day until she got pregnant. Her then teacher noticed that she was gaining unexplainable weight rapidly. Her teacher then asked her was she pregnant and Terry responded that she wasn't sure but she was raped by an "unknown" man from her neighborhood. Terry's teacher could tell that she was lying about some of the details, so she called DCFS and another agent was sent to her house. DCFS did an investigation and during that investigation, Terry's mom tells the social worker that Terry was raped by some man from the neighborhood and that he's behind bars now. She then stated that Terry was already checked by a doctor and that she wasn't pregnant. Terry was then pulled out of school and later had Mason at home. The neighbors then get suspicious when they see Terry out hanging around on the porch during school hours. The neighbors then ask Terry why she hasn't been to school. Terry then tells the neighbor that she was raped by her uncle and got pregnant. She goes on to say that she had to keep it a secret or she would get into trouble with her mom. The neighbor then calls DCFS again and tells them that they had to get Terry and Mason because not only was she raped and got pregnant by her uncle, but her mom, dad, and uncle were all drug addicts but the uncle supplied them with the drugs, who was also a drug dealer and pimp. Terry's original social worker died of cancer and didn't have time to tell her story to Jennifer, which is why she and Angela didn't know Mason was her son so Terry kept it a secret.
