After she shut the door for me to leave, I sighed

After she shut the door for me to leave, I sighed. I knew that leaving was wrong and part of me wanted to turn back to the door and knock to finish helping her out but I already walked out and couldn't take it back. So I reluctantly headed back to my car and plopped down in the driver's seat and set my head on the steering wheel. My mom is going to be pissed.

On the drive home I couldn't help but wonder what her actual personality is and why did she flinch when I talked to her? It wasn't met to come out in such a snappy way, though I guess I did. Hopefully I'll find her again to apologize to her.

I sigh  again and set my keys down on the small table by the door. Once I come back to reality, I hear my mom yelling at someone. I made my way down the hall to her office where she was being so loud.

"I don't care what you were doing Jack. You broke the deal and now I have to pick up the pieces because you ended up a drunk. You weren't supposed to drive her away and now they're meeting each other. This is why we never would've worked because you don't have enough responsibility to take care of what you need to take care of, you know, like our daughter. Figure it out," and with that I hear her slam her phone on the desk and take a very shaky deep breath.

I opened the door and gave her a small smile, "Everything alright mom? You were being pretty loud and I haven't heard you yell that much  in the entire time I've been alive."

She quickly regained her composure and returned my smile, "Oh everything's fine, E. Just stuff with work. I can never seem to catch a break."

I don't believe her for a second but she's too stubborn to tell me the truth so I just shrug it off and walk back to the kitchen.

                                                                                 ************

(Alyssa's POV)

When I found out the other day that Amethyst was the one Eden was going to pick up, I nearly fainted. Back when they were separated, I never thought they'd end up meeting. I thought Amethyst would stay where she was. But here we are, well her she is. In New York of all places. Why New York? Like why not California or something?

I felt myself getting angry and before I realized what I was doing, I dialed his number. My ghost of Christmas past.

"Jack what the hell did you do," I'm raising my voice before I even realize.

"Oh my dear Alyssa," He drawls, and I know he's been drinking.

"Look at you Jack, going to bottle because you can't figure out your fucking life."

"Oh love, have you finally called to beg for me back," He sounds so evil and vicious that I barely believe it's him.

"In your dreams, Jack. I would never stoop to your level," I sneer at the idea of even being around him. His breath  could probably intoxicate any normal person and his entire body probably carries the stench of alcohol wherever he walks.

I can nearly picture him snarling, "Of course you wouldn't because what, you're too good for me?  Of course because you've always been the snooty Miss Alyssa. Nobody was ever good enough for you.  Except for the whores I'm sure you had when you left me. I mean who in their right mind would ever leave someone like me?"

"I never had any whores Jack and you knew that damn well. Now the reason I actually called, is guess where our daughter ran off to because you weren't paying attention?"

"I'm gonna take a wild guess here and say New fucking York, home of idiots and whores."

"Neither me nor my daughter nor I are whores Jack, and you know this. You married me for gods sake. Now why the hell did you allow her on that plane, you know damn well how damaging this can be for them if they realize that we hid them from each other."

"Do I care? No. Hell, I'm glad she left. She was worthless and I didn't want her around to fuck up anymore than she already did. Not to mention she did come out of you and I can't stand that. I was busy out with friends, actually having a life unlike you or any of your daughters."

Figure it out," I throw my phone down on the desk and let out a shaky breath.

"Everything alright mom?"

I nearly jump out of my skin when I hear Eden's voice. I'm so scared of what she might've heard that I don't hear the rest of what she says. But I regain my composure and  I reassure her that everything's fine but once she leaves the room I let a tear fall. I kept this large of a secret from her and she still believes every word that comes out of my mouth. I'm a terrible mother. I should've let them meet years ago. I should've never let Amethyst go with her deadbeat father. I put her in danger. What was I thinking?
