JAY/ACE
Damn...
The building's smouldering as people run screaming, it'll probably collapse any minute now.
It's not my job to get civilians out of here though, leave that to Larry.

RedCrow should be long gone by now, surely she would've known about the military. But if the military didn't know... then how would-
"OH MY GOD!"

I sprint as fast as I can towards the building, she wouldn't know, she'll be here! I'll finally catch her!
But before I arrest her... I'll need to ask her a few questions.
Just a small amount of investigation, she knows something the government doesn't want us to know.
I need to know.

'Disintegrated' wasn't an exaggeration, if anything it was an understatement. The only places still mostly stable where the corners.
RedCrow can't be dead, even if she didn't know, she's too smart for that. Too smart.

There's fire everywhere and smoke clouds my eyes making it impossible to see; I run blindly to where I'm certain she's hiding.
She couldn't've escaped with this crowd of panicking people. My sneakers scrape across the rubble and debris scattered on the ground as I sprint like some messed up Olympic runner.

When I reach the corner, out of breath, I guess I'm not quite that fit huh...  pshhh it was a long way to run!

There was a ten foot wall of fire, blazing in the evening air, enveloping it with smoke. My ears rang, the only thing audible to me now was the raspy harshness of my breathing.
Where the hell is she?

A whimper, coming from behind the fire. The smoke and flames obscured my vision; damn, I can't see a thing...
The whimper, it belonged to a puppy.
What the hell would a puppy be doing here?
It doesn't deserve to be here, it needs help.

It needs help.
RedCrow can wait...

I leap through the fire, the surface of my skin frying and peeling away. Jeez it hurts!
It's slightly clearer on this side, my vision clears up a little. I can just make out the outline of the dumpsters...
I hear the puppy whimper again, it's breathing rash and inconsistent.

I waved my arms around harshly and the smoke scattered. It wasn't just a puppy.
Leaning against the slowly melting dumpsters was a girl with long black hair, the red dyed ends slowly burning away. She was covered in burns and was barely, if at all, conscious.

The puppy lay gently on her lap, it's beautiful, but tragic. A bubble of contempt, in their sea of commotion. Breathing, but barely.

I've finally won.

And yet, I feel nothing positive. Why is that?
I have so many questions...
This isn't over, I need to know...

This isn't over.
Isn't that right RedCrow?
