[Chaeyoung]May 17, 2019: Roseanne Park, my twin sister, was reported missing.
With my Adidas falcon shoes, I ran as fast as I possibly could towards the large, grand house at the end of the street. I could only hear my ragged breathing and the soft thumping sounds my white shoes were making against the pavement.
It was 72 degrees here in Seoul and running in my skin tight, denim jeans wasn't easing my discomfort. I was breathing hard and probably smelt like a dog.
I received a text from my mother at around 12 p.m., and with my mouth stuffed with some honey bread and my hand grasping a bottle of water, I attempted to leave school as quickly as I could. I was planning to tell the woman in the front desk that the nurse requested for me to go back home due to a fever, but it seemed as though everyone had use the same excuse, so I was forced to attend the remaining periods of hell. It was fine, I guess. It was the last day of school.
Roseanne was certainly an adrenaline-seeker, without a doubt. From hosting huge parties our parents didn't know of during the summer to hijacking my Dad's Corvette for a road trip with her friends a few months ago, she was a badass. I just didn't think that she would go as far as to running away at the age of 18, without telling a soul.
As I neared the familiar vicinity, the sight in front of me had me parting my lips: 10 cars parked in our massive driveway almost took up the whole space. About half a car could've only fit in the remaining space.
"Chaeyoung!"
I closed my lips, and turned to the right to see my mother standing on the balcony of the second floor, motioning for me to come inside the house with her finger. Her blonde, shoulder length hair wasn't slicked back and tamed. It was the exact opposite, as it was ruffled and all over the place, like she'd been running through it hundreds of times, which made sense in this situation.
"Damn it, Chaeyoung. Would you hurry the hell up before the press see you?!"
I narrowed my eyes at her, shaking my head, as I adjusted my bag that was falling off of my shoulder before heading towards the steps that led to the front door. "I ran about 2 miles here in 72 degree weather in tight jeans, mother. That is the last thing on my mind right now."
I let out a huff. My mother was stressed. She wouldn't whine immensely in normal circumstances, meaning that the situation we were suddenly thrown with was anything but light. It was crazy how Roseanne had taken me to school this morning and made a promise that she would drive me back home. My walk, I mean run, home was of me scolding myself for being so dense. Roseanne wasn't at lunch nor had I seen a glimpse of her walking to her 6th period like I normally did. Maybe she ditched class and this was all a misunderstanding. She probably went to Taehyung's place; her incredibly beautiful, tall, famous, talented, and caring boyfriend. But then again, that would've been impossible. That guy was on tour with his group, for crying out loud.
Taehyung and Roseanne had been close friends since 8th grade, and she was the one who encouraged him to pursue his dream in singing. He eventually joined a band. There were brief moments when we'd talk to each other, but it was obvious that we used to talk a whole lot more when we were 13 years old, because we were both interested in music. Now, it was just a quick 'hi' and 'bye' type of exchange or a little nod and smile at the dinner table - we had nothing between us anymore other than my infatuation with his really perfect face.
