She was running. She did not know why she was running, she just knew she was. Everything around her went by as a blur. How fast was she going? Faster than and normal human being could. But then again, she wasn't normal. But this, this was inhuman. Why was she going so fast?

Lost in thought, she failed to notice the oncoming ledge. She tried stopping, but it was impossible. Her heart began racing so fast she feared it might explode before she reached the edge. Closing her eyes and taking a deep breath, her whole body tensed and the ground disappeared from under her feet. This was the end. It was finally time.

After what seemed like forever, she opened her eyes and let out her breath. Looking around she realized what was happening. She wasn't falling at all. She was just floating. Everything around her was pitch black, but somehow she could see perfectly. She felt no emotion. She didn't feel her pulse. She didn't feel pain. She didn't feel anything. Was she dead? Had she died of a heart attack before hitting the ground?

She wanted to speak out loud. She wanted to hear her voice. She wanted to know if what she had expected was true. She began attempting to say something. She didn't know what what she was attempting to say. Just something. But nothing came out.

She was stuck. She couldn't move. She couldn't speak. She couldn't do anything other than just float. She did not move a single inch for what felt like years. With a sigh she closed her eyes, trying to grasp the concept of what was actually happening, and why it was happening.

She was too caught up in her own thoughts to realize what had happened around her until gravity brought her to the ground. Her eyes shot open and she looked around frantically. The whole atmosphere had changed in a matter of seconds.

All around her were naked trees. Orange, red, and yellow leaves covered the ground. There was a frozen pond, but no snow. You could still see Koi fish swimming just below the ice. They looked unfazed. Like the ice had no effect on them. She felt a chill crawl up her legs and wrap around her arms. It wasn't until this point she realized what she was wearing, which was a crop top and high waisted shorts. She had not been cold until that moment. And when it hit her, it hit hard. She immediately started shaking and chill bumps covered her bare legs and arms. She heard a bird whistle that almost sounded like her name, which seemed nearly impossible. Looking in that direction, she noticed an eggshell colored turtle neck sweater and dark red linen tights hanging on a branch. The sweater was two sized larger than what she needed, but it worked perfectly. "Comfortable?" said a deep, menacing voice behind her.

She froze. The hairs on the back of her neck stood up. What was he doing here, wherever "here" was..? She felt his hands rest firmly on her hips and his warm breath tickled her neck. She could feel his gaze shifting up and down her body, which made her feel insecure and nauseous. Again, she tried to speak, and when nothing came out, she switched to the alternative.

Spinning quickly, she punched him square in the jaw. She didn't plan on hurting him or knocking him out. She just needed a distraction. It worked. He took multiple steps backwards grabbing his jaw. She took off. Running even faster than before. Looking back to look for her pursuer, she tripped over a tree root, ultimately falling over another ledge. Go figure.

She woke up with a jolt, sitting straight up. She could hardly breath, and her whole body was shaking. She grabbed her inhaler immediately. "Fuck," she said aloud once her breathing was a little less sketchy, "not again."
