Walking down the halls of the Enterprise, McCoy was studying a couple of papers that he had at hand. As he got closer to his quarters, he heard something that caught his full attention.

"Cause every time I ran, I ran to you. I meant it every time I said I loved you..."

It sounded like faint singing, but with a familiar voice. He could've sworn he has heard that song before, but he couldn't quite remember where exactly.

"I kiss the thought of you and I, I still regret the day that we said goodbye..."

Determined to look for the person that owned the familiar voice, he started following the direction where it was coming from.

"And do you think of me at night? I still wish we could've made it right..."

He followed the voice until he reached Med bay. He checked inside, only to find a couple of nurses that looked occupied at the moment. Thinking that it wasn't one of them, he continued his search.

"But we can't say that we never tried, I guess everything seems more clear..."

The halls soon got crowded and too noisy to hear anything. He pushed through the crowd, hoping that he was going the right way, but the singing stopped and so did he. The crowd soon dispersed, and he was left alone in the middle of  a long hallway.

"Doctor McCoy, report to the bridge immediately."  He sighed in frustration, but started making his way to the bridge. Who knows what kind of trouble Jim has gotten himself into this time.

"There you go."  McCoy said, as he placed a small tribble in a glass jar. "Now, you stay here while I do some research on your species. In the meantime, don't give birth again yah hear?" The tribble only purred at him, making him smile a bit.

A few hours later, after he finally gave his report to Jim, he excused himself from Med Bay and started making his way to his quarters. Once inside, he sat on his bed and helped himself to some alcohol. He took a small sip and stared at the wall in front of him.

"Who could it be? Why does that voice sound so familiar, and why do I care so much?" Were the questions that came to mind, every time he thought of the song. Luckily, Jim came inside to distract him a little bit.

"What's up, Bones? You seem a little distracted today." He says as he poured himself a glass. Bones looks at him for a while, then slowly takes another sip from his glass.

"Something is bugging me, and I can't figure it out." Jim looked up to face him and merely raised an eyebrow, in confusion.

"What is it?" He asks, with an interested tone.

"A voice."

"A voice?"

"Well to be exact, the person who's been singing the song all day." Bones says, as he put down his glass on his desk.

Jim took a long sip from his, and slowly swallowed it. "What about them?" he asks.

"I've been chasing her all day, trying to figure out who she is! Dammit!" He says with frustration and anger.

There was a complete and awkward silence in the room. When Jim finally found the words to tell his friend that maybe he imagined it all, a voice began to fill the hallway.

"And there were so many things I wanted to say, but I was a mess and you moved away. And I think of all the times that you were right, I wish I could explain..."

Both, Jim and Bones jumped on their feet and ran straight for the door. Their excitement soon turned into disappointment when the voice stopped, and there was no one there.

"I guess we are dealing with a girl that was already born with a cloaking device." Jim said with a chuckle, but as he realized his friend didn't laugh at his joke or even scolded him, he got closer to him and layed  a hand on his back.

"Seems to me, Bones, that she might be .... the one."

Bones gave him a strange look. "What are you talking about, Jim?"

"We'll, it's like that one very old fairy tale. What's it called again? Mmm.... Cinderella."

Bones gave him a skeptical look, but he kept listening.

"I mean think about it! You are searching for the girl that caught your full attention with her voice, you can't seem to find her anywhere, and since then, can't stop thinking about her! She's ..... your  Cinderella!"

Bones stood there quiet  with his mouth open. Jim was right, he hated to admit it, but he was right.

"She's my Cinderella."
