Veronica followed the redolent aroma of  bacon and eggs to the kitchen. 

" Good morning, Mom, Beth" 

They both turned to her.

" Good morning sweety. How did you sleep?" her mom asked.

" Oh I'm sure she slept very well last night. She didn't go out"

They both laughed at her. Vee pouted.

" I didn't sleep well, thanks." 

"Why?" Beth asked.

" Well, I do hope you remember that you are going shopping with  Anica. Jessica says she wants to pick up a few things for London" 

" Well, now you know why I didn't sleep well, ma. I don't want to attend the ball. It is filled with some rich fucks and that- that society of 'ladies' who think they own everything" she bemoaned.

" Language, child. And  its also to be filled with young handsome men who would be lucky to take you out. Cammilla specifically asked whether you would make it. And just so you know, you're way prettier than that society of ladies" 

Veronica smiled and kissed her mom.

" Well you always know how to make me feel better. But I know you know what dad is doing. He's playing his cratfty tricks on me again and I just need to find out what." 

Jane laughed.

" Well, I for one want to see where this one ends" Anica said from the doorway to the kitchen. 

" Anica, How are you?" 

" I'm fine mom. I am so excited to pick out my gown for the ball" Anica gushed. She had always been obsessed with balls and parties. This that seemed princessy to her. 

" Oh well..."

Alessandro walked into the conference room with his dad. Today was the final day to come to an agreement with the Blacks.

" Julio, my friend" James patted Julio on the back.

" James"

" James, good afternoon" Alessandro smiled and shook his hand.

" My boy, how are you?" 

" I'm fine James. How are you and Aunt Jane?" 

" Jane is just fine, she sends her regards."

" Alright so let's begin shall we?" Julio said. " Alessandro, you know you are my son and my only heir.  You will soon have full control over the companies. In light of this, James and I, as you know have been bosom friends a long time, have come to a good decision. It was his wish and ours, your madré and myself , to marry our children to join the families and its business. It  is a good thing for both families and and the company. So we came to a conclusion that you are to marry  Veronica Black and the Board and the Rhinos are in concurrence.  A responsible, married man is always a good look for a company."

" Dad....marriage cannot be the only solution to this problem ..." Alessandro was astonished. He'd never thought his parents would get this far just to have him marry. And now, their option was Veronica Black.

" It is the best we have got, Alessandro. I do not have an heir for my company as all my girls have for some reason taken no interest in the family business. If there is anyone I would like  to take over my company, its you."
