"Bet ya never had a ride like that in Paris, eh mate?"
He had to laugh at Junkrat's mocking tone when he spoke of Solarflare's hometown. "Can't say I have, non."
They had stopped in...honestly he had no clue. He had lost track of where their sudden joy ride had taken them. He just had to trust that they could find how to get back.
It all happened so fast? He didn't have any training or objectives and was enjoying a rare period of relaxation in his quarters until suddenly there was a bang on his door. He hadn't even fully opened it before he heard "SOLAR! I'VE GOT AN IDEA! LET'S GO!" as he was being pulled along for whatever the hell was going on.
Alistair had known the man for...weeks? Months? All the days seemed to blur together now. Time went by so much faster now that he actually had a life. It was hard to say how they had reached this point in their relationship. The two went from passing glances during training or in the base, to a sudden "borrowing" of an unused jeep in the new base's small garage just for the sake of a wild night out.
For the first time, he had decided the thrill was worth the possibility of getting in trouble.
Looking out the rolled down window, he noticed their unremarkable surrounding. Nothing but asphalt and dirt. It must've felt like home to Junkrat, Solarflare thought.
"Please don't tell me we're out of gas." He laughed.
"Nah, we're fine." Junkrat said, stretching back in the driver's seat. "Just savin' for the ride back. Don't worry, I wasn't gonna make you push the thing back to the base."
Alistair smiled and rolled his eyes. "I would hope not, considering this wasn't even my idea."
"But you still went along with it!" Junkrat exclaimed, pointing a finger at him. "Mr. Perfect Prince Alistair actually did something rebellious! Never thought I'd see the day."
Solarflare scoffed playfully. "Excuse you! I'm literally part of an illegal organization. Of course I have the capacity to rebel!"
Junkrat let out that excitable giggle Solarflare was all too familiar with. He didn't even hesitate to get up in the other's face and teasingly say "I'm proud of you!"
"You are something else." Rolling his eyes once again, Alistair opened the door on his side and got out of the car. "So, now what?"
"Believe me, mate. I've got experience in this kinda stuff." Junkrat started, also exiting the car and walking around so that he was beside Solarflare. "We're fine where we are, but we shouldn't really head back for a bit while those cops are still chasing their tails trying to find us."
"Right..." It was pretty insane that Junkrat was so used to this while it was definitely a first for him. The whole thing was still sinking in. "God, I can't believe we actually did that! We seriously could've gotten arrested."
"Ah, but we didn't, now did we?" Junkrat asked, placing his metal hand on Alistair's shoulder, his voice brimming with confidence.
He glanced down at the hand on his shoulder, then back up at Junkrat. God, he was so fucking tall. "No."
"Aaaaaaaand wasn't it the most excitement you've ever had in your life?" He gloated.
He really couldn't deny it. It was indeed the most fun he'd had in a long time. "Okay, fine! Oui! Yes! I'm honestly still feeling the adrenaline!"
Laughing loudly again, Junkrat almost burst from pride. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND who made it all happen?"
He was far too pleased with himself, but credit where credit was due. "Let me think....I guess it was you!!"
