Tabria POV:
It's been a few days since the situation between my father and David occurred. My dad and I are kind of on the outs meanwhile David has been in me.
My sister called this morning asking if we could talk. So I'm on my way Chico's, a brunch restaurant, to see what she has to say.
I parked my car and locked the doors before I went fully into the restaurant.
I spotted her talking to the waiter.
"Hi how are you?" I asked.
"Good I ordered you the avocado toast with turkey bacon."
"Thanks." I smiled sipping my orange juice.
"Listen I'm here to say I'm sorry. I didn't know dad would react like that."
"You know he's a hothead."
"I know but it already happened and all I can do now is apologize. I promise I won't spill no more shit about your relationship. Matter fact stop telling me about your relationship if your gonna just run back to him. Because I'll hate him while you love him again. Then that causes a rift between everyone."
I sat there and took in what she said. "Your right. You and dad will never be like mom. She can let me vent and she'll accept him no matter how bad it gets unless he puts his hands on me." I said picking up my plate and walking out.
"Mam you can't take that." The waiter came running out the fine establishment.
I looked at her and got in my car. I didn't have time for anyone's shit today.
I pulled up to my driveway to see David's baby mother's car in my spot. I called his phone instead of getting out the car.
"Hey baby." He answered.
"Tell her come move her car." And with that I hung up.
She came out of the house and looked directly at my car.
"Problem?" I asked rolling down the window.
"Don't y'all start." David interrupted.
I parked my car after she moved. I closed the door behind me leaving David out there to talk to her.
"Hey Bria." Kairi, David's daughter smiled.
"Hey little girl I haven't seen you in weeks." I picked her up hugging her.
"How'd breakfast go?" David asked coming in the house.
"Terrible but I'm not even stunting it." I shrugged.
"Oh okay." He picked Kairi up and began playing with her.
He doesn't see her much therefore when she comes I let her have his undivided attention.
I went to the bed room and just laid back on the bed. I have no one to talk to. Except my mother. I guess that's who I'll call.
I propped my phone up on my lamp while waiting for her to accept my FaceTime.
"Why hello my darling." She smiled setting her phone up most likely against the mirror on her vanity.
"Hey mommy."
"What's up?"
"I met with Nique today for breakfast."
"Yeah she came by here and told your father and myself what happened."
I kissed my teeth making her laugh.
"Baby did you at least give them the plate back." My dad laughed from the other side of the room.
"Wow she told y'all that too?" I laughed.
"Yes baby you guys have to work it out amongst yourselves. Your father and you are hardly speaking on top of that." She said.
"I know but why can't they be like you?" I pouted. "I can tell you everything and you can still be cordial around him David. Them two. A whole nother story."
"Baby everyone can't be like mommy. I'm a little nicer and forgiving than your father and sister. You get that from me. It's a good trait but can also be bad because someone will take it as a weakness."
"Word." I heard my father intervene.
I smiled hearing his monotone voice. I hate fighting with him. He's my best friend.
"I hate fighting with you too Bria. I love you more than anything in this world. I just don't want some boy running over you." He said. Wait I said that out loud. Damn now I have to respond.
"I know daddy, all you want is the best for me. But sometimes I'm not the best for myself." I admitted.
"Listen Bria I wanna have this conversation face to face. Come see me sometime this week. Understand?"
"Yes." I smiled.
"Look at her cheesing Marcus." My mom laughed.
"I know she is, she love her daddy more than anything and she couldn't wait to talk to me and be back in my good graces." He laughed. "But wait in all seriousness why don't you look into counseling? If you don't trust your friends. And you don't wanna always talk to your mom. Find a counselor." He said into the camera.
"Okay I'll let y'all finish getting ready for wherever y'all going."
"We might not even make it there if your mom keeps giving me looks." My dad smirked.
"Alright that's enough love y'all." I hung up.
I started thinking about the therapist thing. It's basically me telling my business to a non biased person. I'd probably benefit greatly from this. I began my search for local therapist.
Kind of short I know...
