The One We Lost (sequel to the saviors)

Chapter One

Two years later

Its been a year since we lost Josalyn in the fight against Zach, we won and saved the city but we couldn't save Josalyn. The fight started off with us all in the city, we all decided to take a district, Tyler had the Quartz District, Ava the Jade District, Reed the Emerald District, I had the Topaz District, Josalyn the Diamond District. We all spit up then after about half an hour we got a call from Jos saying that she found Zach planting a bomb in the city hall, she decided to hide since she wanted backup so she didn't have to handle Zach and the bomb at the same time. We couldn't make it to the Diamond District since we had to deal with Zach's goons. Tyler had to take on Payton, My Mom, and Sydney. Ava had to fight Megan, My dad, and Raven. Reed had to fight Avery, My cousin Emma, and Vanna. I had to fight Bell, Emma, and Lindsey. We don't know how or if he knew where we were going to go but we all had good match ups. My fight went fairly smooth, it started off rough with all of them attacking me at once but I got so upset that I did something I didn't know I could do. I sent a blast of dark energy out moving them away from me so I could get up and attack. After that I kept my distance and attacked from afar, not wanting to seriously hurt them. Tyler's fight was pretty easy for him it took him a while though since he doesn't know how to fight as well as we do. Reed took down the goons that tried to fight him since they can't touch him, but after his fight he had to go help Ava since she only had slightly enhanced abilities. So after we all finished our fight we met up in the Diamond District to help Jos, but by the time we got there Jos had already taken down Zach and handed him over to the authorities but we forgot about the bomb. Zach had detonated it while he was being driven off in the police car, Josalyn reacted quicker than we could, she used her vines to move us behind a building and she used her vines to cushion the blow. Then the bomb went off we didn't know if she got out in time so we ran over to check at first we didn't see her so we were hopeful that she was safe, but then Ava pointed out lots of vines in a ball smashed into the building next to us. We quickly ripped it open to find her lying in the vines, which started to wither, slumped over. We lifted her head gently to find her eyes rolled back. We shut her eyelids and all stood there in silence, some of us praying, others cursing and asking why did she have to leave us. After the ambulance came to see if they could do anything we all went to the police station to take care of Zach. One of the police officers knew about the magic world so he showed us to Zach and we erased his memory so he couldn't use any magic to get out of prison. Three days pasted and we had her funeral. We all showed up. None of us cried there but I can't promise if some us cried after we left. We all said our goodbyes to each other and Josalyn's family and decided that we are not doing anymore "superhero work". We already lost Reed, then Josalyn. We couldn't bare anymore. So we decided to go our separate ways. I now attend Artemis University where I study marine biology. Ava and Reed are still friends since Ava is the only thing keeping Reed alive, Ava studies as a pediatrician, and Reed sneaks into the veterinarian classes at Nova City University. Tyler disappeared after it, no one has heard from him. We all talk once in a while, wishing each other happy birthday or merry Christmas but other than that we all split ways. I purposely chose a college on the other side of the country so I didn't have to deal with the memories of my home town or Central City. I have made some friends, my roommate Alex, his girlfriend Katy, and my other friend Natalie who is also my girlfriend. Natalie and I have been dating for a year in a half, we meet in a biology class my first semester. I try not to use my powers since the incident, I use them if I need to like if I was running late so I would teleport outside of the building. Natalie doesn't know about my powers and I probably won't tell her.

"Hello? Tate?" Alex asked, we were playing truth or dare and I chose dare and he asked me about my past. I haven't told anybody about it yet, I told them that I lived a normal boring childhood.

"Yeah, sorry I just zoned out." I replied.

"You have a lot lately are you okay? We should go to the doctor tomorrow, you could have an iron deficiency or dehydrated. Here have some water and I will go get some dark chocolate, its rich in iron." Katy said, she is studying to be a nurse.

"No, no don't. I'm fine just tired that's all." I said trying to calm her down.

"Tiredness is a sign of iron deficiency and dehydration, I will go get some chocolate. Natalie why don't you come with me." Katy said taking Nat's hand as they left Alex and I's dorm.

"Dude are you sure you are okay? You have been off the past few days." Alex said. I guess not using my powers has had a toll on me. Jos said that if you don't use them often enough it will drain you mentally and physically.

"Yeah I just have been up late studying for a test coming up in biology." I said making a quick excuse. I have gotten so good at lying at this point I sometimes trick myself.

"Alright, we should probably end this game soon so Tate can get some rest." Alex said looking at the girls who just came back with my chocolate.

"Okay fine, loser." Nat said as she punched me in the arm, then sitting on my lap. I had built up some muscle in the past two years, plus Nat is so small that she could fit in a tote. She may be small but she can punch hard.

"I'm going to spend the night in the girls dorm so Nat can stay here if she wants." Alex said looking at me with a smug look.

"Yeah, I guess I can stay here, I'll just sleep on the floor." Nat said sarcastically as she climbed under the blankets on my bed.  Alex and Katy walked out and shut the lights off behind them. Then I snuggled up next to Nat under the blankets and she turned Friends on, that is our show, and WEREN'T going to do the nasty. Then she turned on the heated blanket and she started to close her eyes and recite all the lines from the episode as she drifted off. Before she fell asleep she said her favorite line ever from the show, it is also our thing.

"You are my lobster." God she is perfect.
