Unpleasant memories

Camila

"I was hoping we would grab something to eat before you decide to snuggle in hell's hole,"

I threw a glare at Molly and she just shrugged, "Well you're right about the first one 'cos I'm starving' "

Molly chuckled as she turned off the ignition and automatically opened the doors which amused me.

"That's new," I said actually surprised.

"Well I had alot of work done on this baby when you fled to Mexico". I hadn't really looked at the car since I entered it but right now as I assessed it, it occurred to me that were alot bizzar changes.

"Molly seriously," she just shrugged it off like it was nothing "You could have just sold this one and bought a new one that was more presentable!".

Her eyes became that of bewilderment as she hugged the steering wheel, "There is no way in hell am selling my baby," she glared at me then rubbed the steering wheel with her sleeve. "Don't mind her Kate, she doesn't know what we've been through".

Weird. Not just her affection for the old rickety iron, but the fact that she loved it more than me.

I didn't know I was sulking till she poked my arm, "Quit sulking you know you're my first love". That made me laugh. My stomach grumbled reminding of its need to be feed.

"OK sweetheart duty calls".

"Hmmm," I moaned as my potato chip dipped in tomato puree touched my tongue. I could never get over my love for potato; Irish or sweet, crisp or steamed.

"You're still addicted to that thing," Molly asked surprise evident in her voice.

"Why? yes," I said amusement leaking from my voice. "I've missed potato chips so much. Nana never allowed me have any, I don't know why". Speaking about Nana, I hadn't called her, mostly because I was so wrapped in Molly. I had better brace myself up for an ear full this evening or when I call her.

"Well she is one to know potato chips is your favourite addiction," I smiled

"You are right on that one plus it healthy".

"Holy shit I forgot to tell you Cam, they add a little bit peanut flavour to That thing," She freaked innocently.

My face went green. Holy shit. Please tell me it's a lie.

And it was. Molly burst out into bubbles of laughter. "You should have seen your face". She said as she pointed at me.

"Not funny Molly," I grumbled but I was glad it was a lie, I was borderline allergic to peanuts and Molly using it right now totally freaked me out. I smiled she was really good with pranks.

I played with my food until she spoke again. "Have you heard from your Dad," my fork clanked the table as I gave her a blank stare way to spoil moods Molly.

"Duh obviously, am crashing his place for a couple of weeks till I get a good paying job so I have no choice". My voice heard no emotion as I spoke, me and my Dad weren't the best of friends.

Molly bit the side of her lower lip-a nervous act I had become accustomed with- as if her next words could break me.

"Spill it Molly," she let out a dry nervous chuckle as she cleared her throat.

"You know me too well," she stuck a thick tendril of her beautiful brown behind her ear which made her look more cute. "About your Dad..." I frowned. I knew what was coming next.
