Everyone got a dark little secret (AOT fanfiction)

Chapter 1

'' Psst...Amira, wake up! ''  I let out an annoyed sigh as I slowly turn to the right to see the person who just talked to me. I rub my eyes and bink, trying to focus my sight on the guy near me, having a small, sad smile on his face.

'' I'm up, Jo. '' I replied, trying to get up and look better at him.

His soft, brown hair was covering a little bit his dark, chocolate eyes and his lips were forming one of his perfect bunny smiles. Joseph was my 22-year-old big brother and the light of my life. There was no way for me not to smile while looking at him even if he just woke me up from my sweet sleep. 

'' Come, you can't be late for your first day of college. '' He said, his voice clear and sweet like milk and honey. 

'' Brother, it's not my first day of college. I've already been to that hell of a place last year. '' I groaned and stand up, slowly walking towards him to hug him. He embraced me for a couple of seconds, giving me a bear-hug, then walked towards the kitchen, as I followed him.

'' Yes sis, but this is the first day of your second year. You better get ready so I can drop you there in time to catch the airplane. ''

Oh, so this is why he was so hurried for no actual reason. 

'' Going back to Japan to your lovely girlfriend? '' 

He didn't reply, as I sat down at the table, waiting for him to give me a cup of hot tea. In front of me were two delicious-looking plates of pancakes. I gave him a soft smile.

'' You made my favorites? ''

'' Yes. I won't see you until Christmas. I'm trying to make this last couple of hours we have as nice as possible. '' 

I happily grabbed my cup and drank the hot, red liquid. He sat across me and began eating too. 

'' Just being with you it's nice, bro. '' 

He smiled, but I could see how sad he was when I looked into his eyes. They soon got watery.

'' Oh come on, bro. Why are you crying for? ''

'' I don't want to be apart from you, but I can't stay here either. ''

'' Brother, you got a job, a girlfriend and friends there. There is also where you live. It's normal. ''

'' I just feel bad you can't live with us yet. '' 

I got up and hugged him tightly as I saw some tears rolling down his cheek. My brother was a tall, emotional guy even if he tried to look though. I somehow always laugh a little when I see him crying so easily.

'' Bro, you know I love my college friends. I can't just leave them so easily. ''

'' But it must be so lonely to live alone... '' 

'' Brother, I'm used with being lonely. This isn't such a big deal. And we got such a luxurious and big apartment...You spent a lot of money on this shit for me. ''

'' I just want to see you happy. And you begin to smile so rarely! That's not ok...and I should be next to you, not millions of fucking kilometers apart.  '' 

'' Shhh...I will call and text you daily and smile for you. No need to feel bad. '' 

He smiled a little and hugged me tighter. 

'' I love you, sis. ''

'' I love you too, dumbass...'' 

I didn't even try to look too nicely dressed. I didn't feel like it. I just got decided to wear some black jeans, with a black rock-band T-shirt tugged in. My long, purplish-red hair was loose, looking a little bit curlier than how it normally was. I wasn't in the mood of too much make-up, so I guess a dark, red lipstick and some mascara should do the job. I quickly got my backpack on and ran in the living room, where Joseph should be waiting for me. He had already his shoes on and was playing with his car keys. 

'' Okay, I'm ready. ''

He smiled, handing me a credit card and a paper. I looked at the paper, reading the first line.

'' Oh, it's my schedule. ''

'' You almost forgot it, silly. ''

I laughed.

'' In the worst case, I could have called and asked Katy for some help. ''

'' Katy can't always resolve your problems just because you aren't careful enough. ''

'' That's not right, that's her job. '' 

We went out, got into his black, matte, sports-car and he drove away, through Wisconsin.

'' You know what, sis? I have a feeling this school year of yours is going to be just fine. Like something big is coming up in your life. '' 

I snorted at his remark.

'' Something big coming up in my life? Good joke bro, good joke...''
