Minutes pass. Then, what feels like hours, Will and I get up from behind the fruit basket. I look around. It must've been hours, because the blackness is beautiful. Especially with the glow of the crescent moon. The group is nowhere in sight. "The coast is clear," I hear Will announce from behind me. We take one last look around before starting down the empty road.
"Hey, uh, do you know where we are going?" Will asks.
"Yeah. On an adventure," I answer.
He gives me a twisted smile.
"Where shall we start, madam?" he taunts.
"Let's start there," I ignore his comment and point to a bridge leading over a narrow, calm river.
"Why of course," Will announces.
I run onto the bridge and stare at the glassy liquid. The moon's glow gets me hypnotized as I look at the rippling water. It almost looks like the water is sparkling, seeing as the moon kisses the surface.
A hand brushes against my hand. Will's hand grabs mine. He's taller than me by about half a foot, so I have to turn my head to look up at his light green eyes. Staring at him, I realize I haven't really noticed his appearance. Will's hair is dark brown and shaggy. There's one piece of hair that falls over his left eye. His nose is a small nose. When he smiles, his whole face lights up. Then there are his eyes that really stand out. They twinkle in the moonlight.
We stare ahead in silence, admiring the beauty in the scenery. I look over Will's shoulder to find a bright light forming in what looks like the bottom of the river. I frantically tug on his shoulder to turn him around. We stare in awe as the light grows bigger. A strong wind blows wildly all of a sudden. As if the light were causing it blow.
