Life with a Newborn

Hailee's POV

I'd just gotten Alex to sleep when Dustin walked in from being on the road for about 3 weeks. "Hey babygirl, how've you been?" I didn't say anything, I just walked over, kissed him and leaned into him. He smiled into the kiss and rubbed my back. "You wanna go get some sleep? I can toss my clothes in the washer then keep an ear out for Alex if you'd like." I nodded in agreement and kissed him again before walking back upstairs to our room. 

Two hours later....

I'd woken up from my nap and had since tossed Dustin's clothes from the washer to the dryer and I was currently fixing dinner while Dustin entertained Alex. "Ok, now watch how he casts off. You see that? That's what you'll be doing in no time, little man. I gotta see if mama will let me take you out on the boat with your Paps & I." I smiled as I heard Dustin talking to Alex about fishing. I walked over and brought Dustin a bottle that I'd made for Alex. "Only if mama can go too." I said, smiling and putting an arm around Dustin's shoulders. "I think that can be arranged, how long until dinner?" I smiled as he leaned up and kissed me. "Not too much longer, he's got his now, he seems content." I said as I watched Alex latch onto the bottle. Dustin nodded and gently slapped my ass. I finished grilling up the venison strips that Dustin had cut before he left. I put four on each of our plates then put on an ear of corn on each. "So, how've the crowds been?" Dustin finished chewing and looked at me, "They've been great! I've missed it but, I love being back home with you two." He rested his hand on my upper thigh and squeezed it gently as he leaned over and kissed me. When Alex started to fuss, Dustin got up and picked him up. "Hey little man, its alright. Mama's right here, Daddy's here too." He said as he rubbed his back and kissed his head. I smiled at them, I honestly couldn't wait to see him with our little girl, whenever we had her. I loved the way he made sure Alex was okay.

We walked up to Alex's room and put him to sleep after finishing up dinner and then went to our room and slowly fell asleep.
