I wake up to banging on the toilet door. 'Oikawa! Are you in there?' Iwaizumi's worried voice rings throughout the bathroom. I rub my head, which seriously hurts, and quietly sit on the toilet. I can't take it to see Iwaizumi right now. I hear a sigh on the other side of the door. The outer door opens and closes, and suddenly I hear another voice. 'Oikawa. It's me. You in here?' It's Joichiro. Joichiro is someone I can trust; he has always listened to my problems ever since I was a child.
I open the door silently, but regret it the moment I see a furious Iwaizumi stand in the corner. 'Geez, you look absolutely terrible! What in the world happened to you? You look like my son when he stayed up all night to make up another recipe!' Joichiro laughs, but quickly turns serious when Iwaizumi glares at him.
'What happened?' Iwa asks. 'I wasn't feeling so well and I went here to sit in silence. I must've fallen asleep.' I smile as innocently as possible. Both Joichiro and Iwa know me well, well enough to see through fake smiles. But Joichiro takes it. He probably noticed that I don't want to talk about it right now. 'You feeling better? Tama's worried since she hasn't seen you at all since you read your poem.' I nod. 'I'll go look for her.' I say as I quickly walk out of the bathroom.
Lana is waiting outside. I make eyecontact with her, but I break it immediately as I continue to flee from Iwaizumi.
Tama's face shiws relief as soon as she caught sight of me. 'Tooru! Why'd you take so long?' she pouts. 'Sorry, you just looked so busy and all, didn't wanna interrupt.' I rub the back of my head. 'Anyways, congratulations you two!' I give both of them a hug. They thank me in unison, smiling at eachother while holding hands.
If only I could be like that with Iwaizumi.
I shake my head to get the thought out. 'I'm gonna get some cake. Do you guys want some?' I ask them. They nod. As I walk up to the cake, I see the person I am trying to avoid: Iwaizumi. However, he has seen me too, so it is too late to turn around now.
'Hey Iwa-chan! You enjoying the wedding?' I say as I reach out for three plates of cake. He hums, a low sound signaling that yes, he is enjoying it. The sound alone sends a shiver down my spine. 'You have a really nice cousin.' He suddenly states. 'She looks exactly like you.' I smile nervously. 'Anyways, gotta go, see ya later!' Without waiting for a responde, I hurry back to Tama and Ben with the cake.
For the rest of the day, avoiding Iwaizumi goes smoothly, though I do see him sometimes, standing somewhere with Lana. It makes me want to cry every time. The day ends quickly, and soon it is time to go home. I sigh out of relief when my dad tells me to go get the car. No more Iwaizumi for today. I say goodbye to some of the guests and Tama and Ben before we leave.
About 30 minutes later, my phone vibrates.
Iwa:
Where are you? You still haven't seen Lana's picture. You:
I'm on my way home. Not feeling so well.Iwa:
Still? Do you want me to send you the picture? You:
No, it's fine. Thanks, Iwa-chan. I'm gonna sleep.I put away my phone, my heart racing just from texting him. I take some deep breaths; almost home. I try to put my mind on something else, like school, or my dad's stories, but I can't help but drift off into daydreams about Iwa. How nice, warm and strong he is. I want to hug him, I don't want him to hug anyone else. For the first time since Iwa's timer broke, I find myself on the verge of crying.
We finally arrive. I excuse myself, saying that I am tired (which I honestly am) and run up to my bedroom. I hug my pillow tightly, tears spilling out of the corner of my eyes as I realize that I will never be loved by Iwaizumi. After a few minutes, I fall asleep, tired of crying and today's activities. My head is filled with both dreams and nightmares starring Iwaizumi that night.
