Zach opened the front door of his and his boyfriend's house as quietly as possible, trying not to make a sound.

"Hey, babe," Daniel spoke hearing the door open. He turned his head to look at the door where Zach stood holding something in his arms. "What are you holding?" Daniel questioned out of curiosity.

"N-nothing!" Zach spoke quickly, turning around so Daniel couldn't see what was in his arms.

"Okay?" Daniel spoke more like a question. He turned his attention back to the T.V. which was playing Friends.

"Rwoof!"

"What was that?!" Daniel stood up and walked towards Zach trying to look over Zach's shoulder but he kept turning away so he couldn't see. "Zach, what was it?" Daniel asked in a much sterner voice.

"It's nothing, I promise," Zach spoke cuddling the furball in his arms closer to his chest so Daniel wouldn't see it.

"Zach, baby, just show me what's in your arms."

"No, you're gonna get mad."

"I promise I won't."

"O-okay..." Zach slowly turned around to reveal that he was holding a golden retriever puppy in his arms.

"Zach..." Daniel took the puppy out of Zach's arms and set the puppy down on the floor and let it run around their house.

Daniel took Zach into his arms and wrapped him in a hug. There was no easy way to tell him this.

"Zach I'm sorry, it's ju-"

Daniel was cut off by Zach's sobs, "You're breaking up with me aren't you?!" Zach sobbed into Daniel's shoulder.

"What? Babe? No, I'm not breaking up with you!" Daniel pulled Zach from his shoulder and wiped his tears.

"If that's not it then what is it?" Zach continued to cry and wrapped his arms around Daniel's waist as he pulled himself into Daniel's chest.

"It's just... We have way too many dogs already, I don't think we can handle another one," Daniel spoke

"Y-you mean we h-have to g-get rid of her?" Zach stuttered on his words.

"Yeah, I'm sorry baby."

"I-it's okay, I guess we do have quite a few dogs..."

"Okay, bub, now let's go return her," Daniel said as he picked up the puppy which had laid down on the ground next to his feet.

"Okay, let's go..." Zach reluctantly held onto Daniel's hand as they walked outside the house and to the car. They both got inside the car and began to drive to the puppy adoption center where Zach had originally gotten the puppy from.
