The pack was in an uproar.

Adalia tore the shudders open, letting them slam against the outer walls of the place she called home. She was disturbed by the noise, it sounded like loud, angry roars, some chants in the wolves native language was even heard.

She gasped, eyes widened when she saw a group of what looked like pack warriors, dragging a bloodied man by a rope that was bound around his wrists and ankles. He struggled weakly, shouting obscenities and letting his curses fill the sky.

The warriors dragged him through the sea of parting pack members until the scene disappeared from her sight.

She threw her day clothes over her shoulders, letting the cloak of fur clothe her in its warmth. She took a single glance in the mirror before rushing forth to join the excitement. Maverick had been out all day long, busy with patrolling the borders of the territory and managing pack treaties. He had granted her a day off from training, which she was quite enjoying.

Her body seemed like it was permanently sore, and she appreciated the day of rest for herself.

Until the raucous shook the earth.

She followed the flow of the crowd, and even amidst the chaos a crowd brings, they still bowed their heads in respect of their alpha female. Adalia would have shown more appreciation if she wasn't searching for her mate, all she could offer was a small smile before letting her feet carry her quicker.

She was lithe, weaving between individuals and pushing through people. "Sorry, oh, sorry!" She muttered softly and innocently as she continued to lightly push people out of the way.

She was at the front of the crowd now, right behind the man that was being dragged by the warriors. He was caked in mud, eyes ablaze in anger and his feet were bare. She looked up, seeing the dark shadow of a whipping post and a figure she knew all too well standing next to it.

His arms were crossed, eyes glowing with the presence of his wolf. The people around her started to dig their hands into the snow, pulling up large rocks and various stones.

She was about to witness an execution.

The warriors roughly threw the man against the post, tying him in a way so that his back was against it. He wasn't going to be whipped, but stoned.

He was still cursing and spouting nonsense in the native language she was still learning, but what she could make out of it wasn't too friendly. She turned her eyes to Maverick, he glared at her for a moment, as if to say, 'you shouldn't be here.'

She narrowed her eyes at him, agitation flared up within her and her knuckles clenched at her sides. It was her right to be here, just like any other pack member.

She marched up in front, joining him by his side with a confident look in her eyes. Maverick huffed at her for a moment, before turning his attention to his riled up pack. With cold eyes he gave the tied man, and with a wave of his hand, he silenced the pack.
