Lucia, a girl born in the city of Beauclair, Toussaint in 1203 to a single mother who loved and cherished her dearly, and Lucia reciprocated this love just the same. Her mother provided her with everything she could as a washerwoman; clothes that kept her warm, food fresh in her belly, a warm and cozy bed to sleep in, and a fireplace to keep the cold at bay.

One early morning, Lucia walked beside her mother in a forest. They were gathering acorns for a special recipe her grandmother passed down from Velen, for Lucia's nearing 10th birthday. But, as safe as the city was compared to Velen or even Nilfgaard, the forest was the same: riddled with bandits and monsters. Unfortunately, the two had the bad luck of running into a small group of desperate bandits. After learning her mother had nothing but acorns and the girl even poorer than the woman, they killed her. Just before her throat was slit, she yelled for Lucia to run, and run Lucia did. In the wrong direction of their safe city, but away. She was found by a Witcher who decided to take her in for training. To Haern Caduch the two traveled, to the Witcher School of the Bear in Skellige. While on her journey, Lucia learned basic strength and endurance exercises, alchemy, and of the bestiary.

But the real training did not begin until she reached Haern Caduch. At the School of the Bear, Lucia spent 12 years completing extensive education and training to make her fit to survive the world as a Witcher. Due to living in the Middle Ages' equivalent of the suburbs, she trained excessively to reach the physical standards the witchers held. She excelled in memorizing the bestiary, weaknesses, and alchemy.

At 23 years old, Lucia made the potions for Witcher mutation herself, then mutated herself during the night, hidden away, only illuminated by some small candle fires. As agonizing as it was, she succeeded, and was later released onto her Path.
