Amelia POV
After unpacking for the first few days I was exhausted. I would start my new job at the local bakery in 3 days and start college in the Fall.
I fell asleep for hours, waking up to find it almost midnight. My throat was dry. I went into the kitchen to grab some water.
I almost dropped the glass of water as I heard a loud scream. Looking around cautiously, I couldnt see anything or anyone outside my kitchen window. Should I call the police? I thought. I set the glass down, and went outside with my phone in my hand.
Walking in the direction of the noise, I thought I heard something to my left, but it was hard to see. I began to shake a little. I needed to know the person who made the noise was ok. "H-hello?" I said, sounding stupid talking to thin air.
No answer. I kept walking till I had noticed there was another property. The lights were on in the house. I heard something again, this time it was to my right. Looking to where the sound was coming from there was sounds of someone struggling and muffled sounds. I let out a shakey "H-hello..?" I got my phone ready to dial the police.
I heard the sound of someone eating I thought. There was a low growl and I backed up. I was ready to turn my phone flashlight on, but I didnt know what it was. I was scared it was a wild animal. What if it goes after me! I thought.
I inhaled deeply ready to bolt if needed. Turning on my flashlight I almost wanted to faint. I gagged a little and then screamed as I turned around and ran as fast as I could. What I saw was someone murdering someone else. The man had blood on his face. He was a cannibal! He was eating that poor women! I thought panicking. I got inside my house and put my phone to my ear as I was calling the police. I was shaking as I locked the door and sat down behind it.
"Hello, this is 911 what is your emergency?" The police lady said on the phone.
"Theres a murder!" I said in panic "someone was murdering someone near my house. I-I saw it with my eyes!"
"Mam, please calm down and try to explain the best you can. You said there was a murder? Where"
"N-near 816 Jupiter Rd..further past it" I said calming down a little. "He didnt see me I dont think..."
"You keep saying he, what did he look like?" The police lady says
"I..I dont know, he had blood on him...on his face.." I said trying not to think of the image again.
"Ok, stay calm. We have police on their way. Lock your door and stay somewhere quiet."
"Ok.." I said
"Whats your name" she asked
"Amelia Sparrow" I said
"Alright Amelia, I have police on their way right now. I am going to go, if anything happens you can call back"
"Ok.." I said closing my eyes wishing this was a dream
Click. The phone call ended. I was alone in my house with a crazy person outside still.
After five minutes passed I heard policemen searching the area. Someone knocked on my door.
"This is the police! Open up!" The man called
I got up, unlocked the door, staring at the policeman.
"Are you Amelia Sparrow?" He said
"Yes.."
"Can I come in? We need to talk about what you saw"
"S-sure.." I offered him in, sitting down on the couch as I explained to the policeman. He wrote down notes till he got a message on his intercom. "We haven't found anything, we will keep searching"
He looked at me and said "Are you sure you saw what you think you saw?"
I nodded my head and wiped the tears from my eyes "I'm not crazy.."
The man knelt down and said "I'm not saying you are mam.. just-"
"We found something!" I heard on his intercom. My eyes widened
"What is it?" He says back
"Its a dead animal, looks like a coyote got it"
I shook my head "I know what I saw! It wasnt-"
"Mam..calm down. We have not found a body, you must have been looking at it wrong. This is the woods, there are wild animals. Just get some rest and we will continue to search when morning rises"
I nodded and let the policemen go, walking to my room wiping the tears off my face. Maybe it was a coyote...I just saw it wrong..." I sighed and got into bed, trying to fall back asleep. It was 3 hours till morning and I was even more tired than I was before. I closed my eyes falling asleep.
