"What do you want to do the project on then?" Nya asked as she sat on the blue spiny chair at Jay's desk.

"I was thinking maybe World War 2." Jay suggested.

"I guess I can agree with that." Nya said.

"Look, if we are going to be working on this project for the next few weeks, you have to learn to work with me." Jay told her.

"Yeah, I got that. Thanks for the advice, nerd." She replied sarcastically.

Around half an hour ago, they had arrived at Jay's place. Cliff has greeted them but Nya didn't really feel like saying hi to a famous movie star. Or even talking to him at all.

"So what's your full name?" Jay asked.

"Nya Smith. Why do you want to know?" Nya raised an eyebrow.

"Just wondered." Jay replied, "Do you like the place?"

"It's nothing compared to my home." Nya answered.

"What's your house like?" Jay asked.

"It's a blacksmith shop. I live there with my brother. He's only a few years older than me. We run the place so someone has to stay behind to look after it and serve customers and stuff." Nya explained.

"You run the place? At your age?" Jay frowned.

"It was our parents' shop." She added.

"Where are you parents?" Jay asked

"They went missing when I was two." She replied.

"Oh, I'm so sorry." Jay sighed.

Nya rolled her eyes, "I don't want people feeling sorry for me. That's why I never tell anyone."

"So I'm guessing your brother raised you." Jay said.

Nya nodded, "We are the only family we have left."

"What about distant family?" Jay asked.

"Never heard from them."

Why is he asking all of these personal questions? It's really none of his business. Nya thought.

"Why do you care anyway?" Nya wondered.

"I just wanted to know some more about you." Jay told her.

"Well there's nothing else so stop being such a creep." Nya glared.

Jay sighed. He was just trying to be nice and friendly.

If this is what I get for asking, I don't know how I'm going to work with her for another few weeks. Jay thought.

"I guess now that I've told you about my family, I should find out about yours." Nya suggested.

"Well I never knew my mum but my dad is an actor. And he got an invitation to appear on Broadway in a few days." Jay explained.

"Broadway? That's cool." Nya said.

"The only thing is he's going to be gone for six months." Jay added.

"That's a long time." Nya replied, shocked.

"But he's following his dream, which is most important." Jay smiled.

"Let's get to work then." Nya interrupted.

I'm not going to listen to him brag about his fantastic life so I better change the subject before he does start. Nya thought.

Maybe Nya isn't so bad after all. Growing up without her parents must have been hard. Plus, she was raised by her brother, which is probably why she's so rude. Jay thought to himself.

After Nya headed home, Jay sprinted down the stairs to see his dad in the kitchen making a cup of coffee.

"So how did it go?" Cliff spotted his son walk in.

"Better than I thought. We got to know each other's backgrounds and then we got started. Turns out she lives alone with her brother because her parents went missing when she was two." Jay explained.

"Oh, you're kidding. That's horrible!" Cliff sighed.

"She was raised by her brother so I expect that is why she is so rude. That should change soon, though." Jay smirked.

"Are you gonna try and change her?" Cliff asked.

Jay nodded, "Or at least make her bearable to be friends with."

"That's my boy." Cliff patted his son on the back.

"How long until you leave now?" Jay wondered.

Cliff finished drinking his coffee and placed the mug in the sink.

"One hour."

"I'm really gonna miss you, dad." Jay smiled at his father.

"I'll call you every day, remember?" Cliff smiled back.

"I know but it's hard to believe that I won't see you for six months straight." Jay sighed.

"You'll be fine, don't worry." Cliff told him.

The next day at school, Jay walked to school. Cliff had left the night before and Jay had received his first phone call from him. They both knew that those six months wouldn't go by fast.

Cole waited for Jay outside the front gates. As Jay approached, Cole looked around.

"I guess your dad left last night then." Cole said.

"Yep. And for your information, he called me too." Jay smiled.

"Guess I was wrong then." Cole shrugged his shoulders, "How did your little study date go?"

"One, it wasn't a date and two, it went pretty well I think." Jay replied, How about yours?"

"Let's just say it didn't really... go." Cole sighed.

Jay giggles a little.

On the other side of school, Nya and Skylor walked in through the back gates chatting and giggling.

"I'm glad you enjoyed the movie last night." Skylor managed to stop laughing.

"It was pretty funny." Nya agreed.

"May I ask about how your study session went last night?" Skylor asked with a smirk.

"Why are you smirking?" Nya frowned.

"I'm not," Skylor reacted quickly, "I'm just waiting for you to say that it was boring and you hated every moment of it."

"Honestly, it wasn't as bad as you think. For a famous movie star's son, he's pretty caring." Nya told her.

"And you expected a movie star's kid to be different?" Skylor raised an eyebrow.

"Yes! Most movie star's kids are stuck up, horrible, selfish and self-absorbed." Nya argued.

"True but not all of them. Jay's actually a really sweet guy once you get to know him." Skylor smiled.

Nya hit Skylor on the arm harshly.

"OW!" She shouted

"Remember who you're dating, bird brain." Nya scowled.

"I didn't mean it like that. And you wonder why you can't make friends." Skylor rubbed the spot on her arm where Nya's hand had recently come into contact with.

"What do you mean?" Nya frowned.

"You always call people names. Why can't you be nice for once?" Skylor complained.

"Fine, fine, fine. I'll try." She rolled her eyes.
