He gaped at me, his eyes full of shock, and I probably would have fallen backwards as the words registered if there hadn't been a counter behind me.
"What?"
He sneered, and I almost took my words back, but really, it wasn't that incredibly awful of an idea. When I thought about it a little deeper, I rather liked it. I had an extra room, I could put a futon in there or something. To be very honest I was lonely. My life currently consists of nothing but work and sleep and fear of noises in the middle of the night, and having him to walk home with is a rather comforting idea.
"Well... I mean... it's not an impossible idea."
"I just met you a few days ago, and you're already saying this?"
His voice was quieter, maybe even timid.
"Well you've already spent two nights here. The only difference would be that your stuff would be here."
He looked like he was contemplating it, and admittedly, a good amount of my being might have been hoping for a no. I'm not exactly one for rash decision making.
"Fine."
He stuck up his nose, as if he were doing me a favor for agreeing.
"Really?"
My mind was practically a tornado, thoughts swirling all over the place.
"Well to be honest," he grabbed a small section of his fringe, twirling it between his fingers as he looked down. "I might not have enough money for another month's worth of rent."
His voice sounded absolutely ashamed, and even though I guessed as much, I still felt sorry for him. I mean, I'm not exactly a millionaire either but I do have enough savings to keep me going.
"So like, are you going to move in your stuff and everything?"
He instantly looked peeved.
"Isn't that what you were just asking me? What, you're changing your mind already?"
Maybe.
"No of course not it's just, y'know, it's a weird thought."
He nodded.
"Well it's your own idea so stop being so amazed by it."
I tried to avert from the subject, because really I was feeling beyond uncomfortable about this topic.
"Get ready for work. I don't want to be blamed for your slacking too."
He looked at the clock on the counter and his eyes went wide.
"Shhhhit."
He began running around the apartment and I could hardly hold the laughter in as I watched him fly through the place (It had always been a policy that after any events in which people get drunk, the shop would open late, but he didn't know that, so why not cause a little panic?)
*
She is absolutely awful. She could've told me that work would start late but no, she had to stand in front of the counter snickering, and when I finally realized she wasn't moving an inch, she told me the whole 'policy' thing and I ended up with an extra twenty minutes of sitting on the couch watching kids shows - specifically Pororo. This girl, she's really something, I might just have to release a tarantula in her room during my stay.

"So are you going to go get your stuff after work?"
I nodded, taking a bite of one of the reject pastries from today's batch and watching as she ate a sandwich. As annoying as she is, even her chewing is kind of cute, and this is not okay at all.
