~The next morning~
When I awoke, I thought last night was a dream, so I kept my eyes closed, until Rose's voice cut through the air like a sword, saying, "Good morning sunshine." I rolled over and opened my eyes to see Rose standing in the open doorway with one foot against the door frame and her arms crossed. She had a grin on her face as she tossed a bundle of fabric and a pillowcase onto my bed. She strutted away, calling over her shoulder, "Get dressed and come down for breakfast. We're going furniture and clothes and whatever else shopping." I got out of bed and pulled on the clothes that were bundled up. It was a loose t-shirt and hoodie, a pair of jeans, some hiking boots, and pair of socks. I got dressed quickly and hurried downstairs for breakfast. Rose tossed me a cereal box and trilled, "Sorry about the sucky breakfast, but I haven't been shopping in a while. You want a peach?" She held up said fruit and chuckled as I nodded vigorously. Then she tossed it to me and sang, "Come now, ma fille~" I raised an eyebrow as she pranced over to the key rack and grabbed her car keys, then danced over to the door. I hurried after her and climbed into her car with her, my blue-gray eyes shining with excitement. Rose laughed and pulled out of the driveway, onto the street. She drove me to a furniture store, where we got a bed, nightstand, desk, rug, lamp, and bookcase. Then we went to a clothing store. I got some random clothes, including a few cool band shirts. Rose easily paid for it and we went back to the house, where we got my room all put together. Almost everything was white or black. The only things that weren't was the picture of my parents, both of whom had died the previous year in a car accident; the photo of me and my twin sister, Leanne, who died of pneumonia at age 4, along with our twin brother Liam; and the photo of my whole family that was taken the day before my sister got pneumonia. She was in the middle, one arm around my shoulder, the other around my twin brother's shoulder. Her eyes sparkled with happiness and mischievousness. The was a sly smile on her face and her hair was going a million different directions. As far as I know, my brother is my only living family member. I don't know what happened to him after I left. Poor Liam. Poor, poor Liam, who lost both his sisters in one year. Six months after Leanne died, I left. Mom and Dad gave me the photos so that I wouldn't forget them.
