______
Steven walked a couple of meters behind Joey and Kai, though he was still walking beside Christian. Quinn and Sophia had already made it to class ahead of them.
He kept a close eye on the couple. Sometimes, he felt as if Kai knew and was purposely being touchy to Joey to make him mad. He just wondered how Joey could take it, as he was always talking and joking around about 'personal space'.
Steven and Christian entered the classroom. They both waved goodbye to each other (even though they would see each other 45 minutes later and they don't sit that far from each other) and made their way to their seats.
Steven's seat was assigned next to Sophia, and Zoe at two seats away from them horizontally
As Mrs. H, the geometry teacher, handed them out a test, saying some things like "I hope you studied" or "I should be seeing lots of A's this time". Though based on the student's looks and then whispers like "We had a test?" or "I forgot to study", her wishes would not come true.
***
During mid-way through the test, Steven kept hearing these "psst" sounds from across the room. At some point, it was meant for him, though he didn't know and carried on. 5 seconds after that, a paper ball hit him on the right side of his head. His eyebrows furrowed, looking at the paper now on the floor, then looked back up at the direction to pinpoint where it came from.
And of course, Zoe was the culprit. (Did ya'll expect it or am I making it to obvious-)
He looked at her, and mouthed "What?"
She pointed to Sophia, causing Steven to turn his head and look at her. Sophia didn't notice him, as she seemed to space off staring into her paper.
He looked back at her with a confused expression
She mouthed back, "Ask her what's wrong."
He again, looked at her with a confused expression, as to ask "Why? It's none of my business"
She lightly banged her hand on her desk in frustration, "Just do it!"
Steven sighed, rolling his eyes. He turned his gaze over to Sophia and lightly tapped her on the shoulder.
Sophia turned her gaze to him in confusion
"You okay?" He asked.
Sophia shrugged, "I honestly don't know.."
"What's wrong?"
"Might as well tell you. In about two or three weeks I'm going to another school that's not in this town, and I really don't want to leave."
Steven raised his eyebrow "That's sad to hear but, you don't want to leave Greenwood? You always talk about how horrible it is."
Ridgefield. Oh, Ridgefield. It was a fairly large town, but it has a low reputation and for a good reason. While lots of people were really nice, nearly all of them were people. All of them, intimidating, blasting music, pulling guns on people, guns being heard across town, skipping class, which resulted in every school having at least one rebellious group. Whenever a party was thrown, the entire town knew about it, and there was always a bunch of teens having booze and smoking or finding out she's pregnant the next day. The police never cared about what happened, either. It was basically the definition of a bad neighborhood and was not a healthy environment to grow up in.
"I know," Sophia sighed, "But I meant my friends. Even though it's a bad neighborhood, I grew up here. All my memories lie within this place" She said with sadness in her tone.
"Do you know where the school is?" Steven asked her.
She nodded, "Renton."
"Renton is an amazing neighborhood!"
Now, Renton is the town everyone wants to live in. It's a bit larger than Ridgefield, and it's not that far from it either. It's a wealthy neighborhood with rich people, even though lots of them are snobby, some of them are actually really nice. Like Ridgefield, Nobody gets in trouble for booze and drugs, the police don't care for crimes, and the same thing happens at parties. It's a very fancy neighborhood that screams, 'We have more money than you'. It's pretty much the dream town everyone is super jealous of.
"I know, I know, but I want to stay here, with my memories.. with my life, and my stupid parents are making me move because they don't like Ridgefield! Now they realize? Now that I actually have a social life?"
Steven looked over his shoulder to check if the teacher was watching, and luckily she was typing something on her computer obnoxiously loudly.
"Listen, I can't make your parents change their mind, but, when you're ready to tell them, I'm pretty sure your friends will visit you. And plus, it's Renton, so the school will definitely be better than this one."
"I'm not a rich kid like them. I'll never fit in." Sophia worried
"You'll be fine, trust me, and don't worry too much about it. Greenwood is only, what, twelve miles north of here, so it's not that far."
Sophia sighed, but she smiled, "Thanks.. hopefully, it won't be as bad as you say."
He nodded and smiled back, then went back to his test, or so he thought, as another paper ball was thrown at his head.
He immediately knew who it was, as he looked back at Quinn, "What?" He whisper-shouted, and Mrs. H's paranoid mind quickly shushed the class, even though the loudest thing you could basically here was the sound of her keyboard being smashed (for the love of god please don't make that sound dirty)
She leaned forward towards him, whispering, but loud enough for him to hear, "How'd it go?"
He also leaned forward, "Can we talk about it after class?"
She shrugged, going back up and tucking her chair in and working on her test, and he did the same.
A couple of minutes later, the bell rang. Mrs. H stood by the door collecting the tests as the students filed out of the room. Steven gathered his things while Christian walked over to him, while Zoe and Sophia didn't wait and we're ahead of them. While he was packing his things, he took a glance at Joey and Kai, And it burned within him a hatred for Kai to see him kissing Joey's cheek as they also filed out. Steven sighed in frustration as he slung his backpack over his shoulder and walked out with Christian.
He knew, in the back of his mind, Kai eventually would be sorry for even thinking of Joey in that way so much that they would get into a relationship.
~~*~~
"Alright, cya!" Said Zoe as she waves goodbye to Sophia than part their separate waves to their classes.
Though Of course, Sophia instead of going to her class goes to the bathroom.
She let out her anger of having to move towns while someone quietly followed her in, but instead of going through the loud, creaky door, they went quietly through the vent, making sure their movements were quiet.
Sophia stared out the window, clearly angry about the situation.
They took out her knife with her gloved hands, and slowly approached Sophia.
Then, they put her hand tightly on Sophia's mouth. Sophia's eyes widened in panic as she tried to fight off the attacker but clearly failed, the bathroom attempting to echo her muffled screams.
Then, they took her knife and stabbed it into the heart of Sophia. Sophia's hands dropped and they removed her now blood-stained knife. They let Sophia go, letting the body go limp to the floor in a pool of the victim's blood.
She then took her knife and cleaned it with a paper towel. When it was done, she crumpled the paper towel and shoved it into her pocket, climbing into the vent and escaping.
Now,
To talk to both of them was the next phase.
But one thing the attacker didn't know was Sophia was still alive, but just barely.
