Today was the day that mankind received a grim reminder; the day that the titans broke in. Humans lived in fear; in fear that the day may come. What we didn't know was that it would hit us like a ton of bricks.
"Eren." Mikasa stated, watching the fearful expression of her brother, Eren Jaeger.
He wasn't really her brother, because she had been taken in by the Jaeger family when her family had been slaughtered by their own kind; just for money. She grimaced at the memory.
"Yeah..?" He uttered out as a reply. The sight of titans racing through the once sturdy walls surrounding the town had made his blood churn cold; he couldn't do anything about it. All he could do was watch the painful expressions of the terrified civilians as they desperately clambered on top of each other, trying to evade the titans.
"We have to go." Her voice snapped him back into reality. He had no time to day dream about the harsh reality of life; because he had a job to do.
"Yeah." Eren repeated, before leaping off the roof, his 3DMG clambering as he pursued the rest of the squad which were not far away, since they had been travelling at a soft pace. Mikasa followed shortly behind, tailing on him. Her top priority was to protect Eren on the mission they had been entrusted to ensue. Failure, however, was not an option.
Mikasa cracked a smile for a mere second before reverting back to her hard concerned expression. She leapt too of the eerie building and followed Eren, almost like a lost puppy.
As the team consisting of Armin, Petra, Levi, Eren and Mikasa zipped through the town, they came to a halt when a hurtling screech filled the air. "What the hell was that?" Levi, also known as 'heichou' gave off a menacing glare to no one in particular.
"No clue..." Petra mused, her hair flowing gracefully behind her. "This is the only team in the surrounding area. Did someone get lost?" Petra took a good look from around her, noticing Armin wasn't there. A confused expression had painted her pale face. "Armin?" She almost yelled, noticing the alarmed faces of Eren; followed by his sister.
"Armin?" Eren stated, narrowing his eye brows in confusion. "Actually, I haven't seen him for a while." Butt in Mikasa, sharing worried glances with both Eren and Petra.
"Where could he be...?" The three muttered in unison.
A shuffling sound was heard in the distance, but the group just shook it off. Then the shuffling sound turned into miniscule thuds and a distant panting sound.
"Right here!" A light but gruff voice called out from behind them. In that instant, everyone had whipped their heads around and sighed in relief; all except from Levi of course. Ever since 'that' incident, he's been closer than ever to the ginger haired beauty and has been snagging glances every little second he gets the chance to.
Armin's once sleek blond hair had now been ruffled into every direction, with specs of dirt seen here and there. His uniform had been ripped in some places, but overall he seemed to only have minor injuries, which was a relief seeing as you could die within seconds out here. Levi cringed and grimaced as he fought the suppressing urge to grab a gallon of fresh water and miraculously chuck it at the young solider.
"What the hell happened to you?!" Eren loudly cursed as Mikasa jumped behind to support her injured comrade. "I wasn't looking and whacked into a building... and then I erm, well you see I landed in a bush." He deadpanned, embarrassedly confessed, trying to make it sound believable. He wasn't going to tell them; no... not yet.
"Fucking brat..." Levi spat out. "Tell us where you were." His voice demanded, nonetheless.
"Calm down, Captain!" Petra ushered to his side, trying to calm him down. You didn't want to see him angry... because no ones ever made him pissed before and came out alive. But of course, to no avail, it was no use at all.
"I-" Armin started,
"Captain, I'm sure he'll tell us once this is over." Mikasa's stern voice disrupted Armin, silencing Eren's hung open mouth. Nodding silently, the meek blonde made his way over to his best friend with Mikasa falling just behind.
"Titan incoming! 5 meter class, Abnormal!" Petra's alarmed voice filled the air, her hands already inches away from her blades.
"Go." Levi's monotone voice rang out. "Yes sir!" Petra chorused immediately. Leaping to the side whilst grabbing her blades, Petra swiftly hooked onto the destroyed building, carefully zipping past the abnormal. Taking the opportunity to do so, she then hooked onto the back of it's neck and with a horrifically loud screech, she ripped through the air; spinning frontwards with unbelievable speed, abruptly slashing the nape of the man eating humanoid.
"Wow..." Eren breathed out. "A-are all the members this powerful?" the blonde merely asked.
"Tch, you brats have got a long way." Levi seethed.
Swinging down beside them, the ginger haired woman patted Armin's shoulder. "I'm sure you'll be just as good as me one day!" Her voice, and her smile perfectly matched those words of encouragment, boosting the young boy's self-esteem, even if it was by a little bit.
"Thank you." He politely returned. "What about me?!" Eren's voice boomed out, clearly interupting the 'civilized' conversation.
"Don't worry, Eren." His sister said, resting a hand on his shoulder. "You don't need to be strong, since I'm here." She smiled a bit, but before releasing Eren's angered expression she quickly released her hand.
Sighing, Armin just gave a empethetic look to Petra, before they both got back into the team formation.
"When will he realise it...?" He pondered.
