I woke up to the sound of a bird's cries. The light of the sun shone through my curtains, and and I blinked my green eyes. My ears were perked to the noise of bacon sizzling. Wait, before you call me crazy, let me explain. My name is Piper, and I'm a shapeshifter. I'm not crazy, I swear. Just keep reading. Or look up pictures of the red maned wolf. Either way, I don't care. I bounded down the stairs, my tail wagging. I'm no dog. I'm a red maned wolf shifter. My mother saw me, and chuckled. "Smelled the bacon, eh?" I nodded vigorously, and saw my dog running over. I chuckled under my breath, and leaped over to the red bone coonhound. Luna wagged her tail, baying like the hound she was.
While my mother finished breakfast, I stepped outside and got a breath of fresh air. I saw the two other shifter sisters arguing there heads off. Stella Rose, who's as kind as anyone I've ever met, was an arctic wolf shifter with pale blue eyes and long white and silver hair. Skyggte, who's as ruthless as anyone I've ever met, had pitch black hair and red eyes. She shifted into a new type of shifter everyone was just calling the 'shadow wolf.' It suits her, too. The wolf, who's black fur shading doesn't apply to, has the power to jump into someone's shadow. Skyggte has scared the hell out of me multiple times with that trick. Stella turned, saw me, and waved. Skyggte, however, scowled.
The other five shifters on our street saw us, and looked fearfully at Skyggte, who wreaked havoc on anyone she didn't like. However, three of them were my friends, and walked over happily, knowing Skyggte would always be stopped by Stella. Celeste, a fox shifter, was the first to arrive. She had long red hair, and green eyes. She grinned at Stella, and yawned. "Isn't it a bit early for you to be awake, Piper?" I nodded. "But my mom was making bacon. I can smell it." Celeste laughed. The other two shifters walked over after Celeste quickly. The two male shifters on our street were as different as night and day. Kaelen was a sea snake shifter, so he didn't shift often. He was pretty nice, I guess. The other one was Luka, who was also nice enough. He was a, don't laugh, snapping turtle shifter. Those things are mean.
