Christmas Ova ~

~ Word Count: 4.2k

Third POV

"Ne, Yu-chan. Don't you think that cloud looks like a bunny?" Ema giggled, pointing up at the sky.

Yuuki follows her gaze and tilts her head to have a better look at the mentioned cloud. She scrunches her face and hummed.

"Nah, I think you're blind. That looks like a kangaroo." She jests, earning a bewildered scoff from her sister.

The street seemed not as busy as usual on the way home from school. Yuuki walked on the street side while Ema playfully balanced herself on the aligned bricks on the ground.

Ema points again up at the sky to a bigger unevenly shaped cloud. "How about that one? It looks like- AH!"

Suddenly, Ema lost her footing by a loose brick and came tumbling down the small landslide that led to the canal. Yuuki frantically called out her sister's name, reaching forward to catch her sister's wrist but fails.

The adrenaline within Yuuki rushed through her as she carelessly threw her school messenger bag and jumped down the landslide, stabilizing her body to slide after her sister. She heard a loud splash and her heart dropped.

Yuuki saw her sister struggling to stay above the surface but the flow of the water pushed Ema farther away from her. The caramel brunette had no choice but to dive in, desperately swimming towards her almost drowning sister.

"Ema! Ema! Don't flail your arms like that! Keep your face up to stay above the water! I'm coming, don't worry! Onee-chan's got you!" Yuuki shouted, hoping her sister can hear her.

"Help me, onee-chan! You know I *gurgles* can't *gurgles* swim!" Ema wailed, fear evident in her desperate orbs.

Yuuki thrust forward, victoriously grabbing her sister and swimming back to the side they both fell from. Once out of the water, Ema coughed and shivered. She dove into her sister's arms crying. Yuuki protectively wrapped her arms around her fragile sister and cooed her, tenderly rubbing her back.

"Shh. It's okay, Eko-tan. Onee-chan's got you. No need to fear. I got you." Yuuki reassures her in a gentle tone.

Ema glances up with fresh puffy eyes, "Onee-chan. I was so scared. I almost died-"

Yuuki's heart clenched at those words, tightening her grip to where she'll never lose her sister. "Shh shh. Don't say that. No one is dying here. See, you're alive!"

"B-but-"

"Eko. It's in the past. You're alive and that's all that matters. As long as you have me, nothing bad will come to your way. Because you know why?"

"Why?" Ema sniffles.

Yuuki gently wipes away her sister's tears, warmly smiling down at her. "Because Onee-chan's got you, forever."

Yuuki jolted up awake, frantically searching around the room until her fearful eyes calmed down once she rested upon her sleeping sister on the bed beside hers. A relieved sigh escapes her lips, standing up from her bed to sit on her twin's.

She gazes down at her sister. So innocent and pure. She vowed to not let anything bad happen to her and she failed.

Yuuki tenderly caresses her sister's cheek and brushed through her hair. She frowned, disappointed in herself for not meeting her main vow in life:
