I hear the smashing of glass against the floor. Great, Ash always ends up destroying things. While cleaning up the broken glass my phone pings. I pick it up only to see that my friend Delilah messaged me.
Delilah: My new friend wants me to help him find someone to clean his house but he needs someone that he can trust. This is gonna be hard.
Jess: I'm actually cleaning up glass right now. Would he be able to trust a friend of yours, such as me?
Delilah: Maybe, let me ask.
Jess: Ok
Delilah: He said as long as I really trust them and I replied that I have a friend that's good at cleaning and I might be able to see if she would be up for it. Then he asked if I could see if you would be interested. What should I say?
Jess: Just say that she said she would be down.
Delilah: Ok
Delilah: He wants to ask if you would like to meet at Starbucks tomorrow to talk about the job and if so pick a time.
Jess: Tell him I said yes and that 3 would be good.
Delilah: He said that would be great and that he'll see you then.
The next day:
It's 2:45 so I should probably get ready. I throw on a romper, put some light eye makeup and lipstick on, then go out the door. I drive to Starbucks and walk in only to see my favorite YouTuber sitting at a table. I freeze and decide to ignore him but realize I don't even know what the guy looks like so I take out my phone and text Delilah.
Jess: Can you text your friend that I'm there and I'm the girl in the blue romper?
Delilah: Ok, one minute.
I wait and glance at Colby to see him looking at his phone then I start messing with my bracelet. "I'm guessing you're Jessica?" I look up and see the person I thought I would never meet. "Yup." I say, trying to act normally. "Do you want to get something to drink?" He points towards the counter. "Sure."
We walk to the counter and I order a frappuccino. They hand it to me and I reach to get my wallet but Colby gives his card to the lady. "You didn't have to do that." "No, but I wanted to." I smile. "Thank you."
We walk to a table and talk about the salary and times then he says something that makes my heart skip a beat. "Are you single?" Did he really just ask that? That couldn't be a normal question you ask someone while talking about a job offer. "Yes, sadly." I frown. "Well, I guess that's it, you can start anytime. Oh, and I should probably give you my number so you can contact me." I give him my phone and he puts in his number. We throw away our trash and then go out the door.
The next morning:
I wake up and get ready for the day. I wonder if he would let me start today. I grab my phone from the desk and text him he replies almost instantly.
Jess: This is Jessica, I was wondering when I could start working.
Colby: You can start anytime today through Friday.
Jess: I might come over around 3 today if that's ok.
Colby: Ok, the address is (random address)
I can't believe I'm gonna be cleaning Sam and Colby's house.
...
I throw on some leggings and a long crop top that only shows a little bit of my belly then get in the car. When I get to the gate I text him and he gives me the code to get in. I knock on his door and after a few seconds he opens the door and smiles at me. "Come on in." I walk in and he gives me a tour and mentions a few things that need to be done. "So you can start anywhere you want, everyone else is out of the house so I'm gonna go edit a video. If you need anything just tell me."
