Gravity falling for you (Wendy corduroy love story)

Chapter 3

I returned into the house to a great smell of food from the kitchen. Sure my mom could be annoying sometimes but she was a great cook. As I walked into the kitchen to grab a drink I turned to see her giving me a weird look from across the kitchen.

"Can I help you?" I asked confused.

"Yes actually you can" my mom said returning to prepare the food. "You were supposed to go to the mystery shack with your siblings but now I hear instead you're going off with some random girl."

"Katie's already found a girlfriend"
My brother shouted from the table causing me to glare at him. "It's not like that she's just an employee from the shack and we were speaking about employment opportunities!"

"Really!?" my mom said sounding very shocked. "Wow don't sound so surprised mom" I muttered under my breath. "Sorry dear it's just your not usually this proactive, especially during the summer." she explained

"She just wants to spend more time with this girl" David said again without anyone wanting his opinion. My mother told him to stop as she put the food down and we all sat around the table to eat.

"So yeah I'm gonna see if I can start tommorow" I said once I'd finished my food. "Why don't you see if your brother can get a job there as well" my mom suggested. "NO!" we both shouted in unison. My mom sarcastically put her hands up "it was simply a suggestion."

I went to bed soon after because I'd have an early start tommorow. I was actually kinda exited. This would be my first real job plus I'd get to see Wendy again and she was probably the only tolerable person in this town.

The next morning

I rose before everyone else quicky getting ready and grabbing a piece of toast before setting off. When I arrived the place seemed to be unpopulated and I couldn't see Wendy inside.

I walked inside and was met by a gruff voice from a living room section of the shack. "Wendy is that you? Wow on time is early for you." an old, overweight man said as he rounded the corner. He wore his underwear and a tight tank top which his gut stook out of. He generally seemed pretty gross.

Upon seeing me his eyes widened "Ah a customer. Excuse my clothes we don't usually get people at this time."

"Oh it's fine I'm actually here to ask about work."

His face lit up "Ah another youngster realises the joy of working at the wondrous mystery shack. You're hired! I'm Stan your boss and you do everything I say" he explained as he threw me an ugly green shirt with a question mark on the front. It smelt funny and and was kinda damp. "Do I have to wear this?" I asked

"Yes" he replied bluntly handing me a broom stick "Your first job is to sweep the store" he said returning to his living room. "Thanks Wendy" I thought as I began sweeping.

About an hour later the bell at the door rang as Wendy walked in care free. I rushed over and lightly hit her in the leg with my broom. "ow...Katie?What are you doing here? And why are you wearing our crappy shirts?" she chuckled and I glared at her.

"Because you told me to start working here and when I arrive you're not working here" I said maintaining the glare. "Wait Stan hired you already, he's weaker than I thought."

Seeing that I was still glaring at her, her look softened "ok I'm sorry but we don't need to show up on time no one comes here early and Stan won't do anything, he needs us"

"Fine" I said shoving the broom into her hands and  sitting at the counter. "What are you doing?" she asked confused. "What you were doing yesterday" I said putting my feet up and grabbing a magazine "while you sweep."

She raised an eye brow "Really?" she asked and I simply nodded dismissively. "Well this isn't a regular thing" she said chuckling as she began sweeping "We'll see" I said smirking at her from above the magazine. She just rolled her eyes and smiled

I could make this job fun as long as Wendy was here it'll be ok
