Nico stared at the clock as time seemed to be going by slower and slower. Only ten more minutes and he would be able to see Percy again. Hopefully he would be alone.

As people started filing into the dining hall for lunch, he scanned the crowd for any sign of him. There, with those gorgeous eyes and unruly hair, he was walking in with Frank discussing something only known to them.

Nico started making his way towards the two, proving difficult because of all the starving demigods ready for lunch.

"Percy! Percy over here!" Nico yelled, trying to get Percy's attention. His attempts were futile, as the cafeteria grew louder and louder. He started waving his arms and Frank seemed to take notice. Nico motioned for Frank to get Percy's attention and once he had it, he motioned him over.

"Hey Nico, what's up?" Percy yelled, trying to avoid getting bumped into. Instead of trying to make himself heard over the crowd, Nico grabbed Percy's hand and led him out towards the back of the building. "Why here?" Percy asked once Nico stopped.

"I wanted to talk to you and it was too crowded and loud in there." Nico said, fidgeting slightly. Nico could feel his nerves building up. Could he actually do this? He looked up into those gorgeous green eyes that he had grown to love.

"Nico you're shaking! Are you okay? Do you need to sit down?" Percy said while putting his hand on Nico's arm.

"No, no I'm fine. Just a bit nervous is all." Nico said. Percy looked confused. Nico had come out as gay after the war was over and he had a fling with Will Solace. Percy had come out as bi not long after and Annabeth was so furious he had kept it from her that she had transferred back to camp Half-Blood permanently. Percy was incredibly heartbroken, but Nico was falling harder for him.

"Why would you be nervous?" Percy asked. He leaned on his shoulder against the back of the cafeteria and Nico swore he could melt into a puddle right then and there the way Percy was looking at him.

"I-I've been meaning to ask you this for a while but the war happened and then you came out and then......" Nico paused, not wanting to say anything to hurt Percy. He looked down at his feet and moved the grass around with his foot.

Percy's hand was at Nico's jaw, gently lifting his head back up.

"I think I know what you want to ask. But I still want to hear you say it." Percy said, taking a step closer to Nico. Both of their hearts pounding, Nico cleared his throat.

"Percy Jackson," Nico heard Percy take a deep breath, "would you please, please be my boyfriend?" Nico asked shakily, never once glancing away from Percy's eyes.

Percy smiled, leaning closer to Nico. "I would be honoured to." Percy said as he gently kissed Nico. It was slow and soft. Nico put his hand over Percy's heart and felt how fast it was racing. Nico pulled away and looked at Percy, who's eyes were still closed.

"Percy your heart's going crazy." Nico stated, slightly worried. Percy opened his eyes with a small smile on his lips.

"You have no idea how long I've waited to do that. I'd thought you'd gotten over me with Solace." Percy said. Nico shook his head and grabbed Percy's hand, intwining their fingers.

"It's always been you Percy." Nico said. Percy smiled and leaned down to place a small kiss at the base of Nico's neck. Nico sighed in bliss as Percy smiled.

"We might want to head back to lunch, I'm a little hungry." Percy said, not making any indication of moving.

"Actually, I had a little something planned. I was really hoping you'd say yes." Nico said, leading Percy further away into the forest. They came upon a waterfall that had a lake at the bottom. Nico lead Percy down the incline to the bottom of the falls where Nico took off his shoes.

"Nico, what?" Percy said confusedly.

"Just trust me and leave anything you don't want wet right here." Nico said. Percy took off his shoes and looked at Nico.

"Now what?" Percy asked. Nico grabbed Percy's hand and placed a feather light kiss on his cheek. Nico led Percy to the edge of the lake and motioned for him to follow.

Both boys jumped into the warm water. Percy, feeling at home and Nico swimming for the falls. Once they went through the falls, Percy surfaced and saw the little picnic basket and blanket set out there. He gasped and brought his hand to his mouth. Nico pulled himself out of the water and looked at Percy's expression.

"Nico, it's-it's beautiful. Probably the most romantic thing anyone has ever done for me, thank you." Percy said while getting out of the water and hugging Nico tightly. Nico cradled the back of Percy's head, savouring the moment.

"Let's eat shall we?" Nico said. They sat down and dug into the basket, which contained peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, chips, brownies, and a soda for both of them. While they ate, Percy decided there was too much room between them, so he pulled Nico onto his lap and put one arm around his waist with a hand splayed on Nico's stomach.

Once all the food was gone, Percy put one arm behind him to brace he and Nico as they watched the falls. Nico laced his fingers through Percy's that were on his stomach and sighed.

"We should probably head back, they might start wondering where we went." Percy said. Nico nodded and got up, grabbing the picnic basket. "Wait, just a sec." Percy said, grabbing Nico's shoulder and turning him around. Percy held Nico's face and kissed him softly. They stood there, simply kissing each other, enjoying the sound of the waterfall in the background. Nico pulled away and rested his head on Percy's shoulder, picnic basket forgotten on the ground. Percy wrapped his arms around Nico's waist.

"Alright, now we really have to go. Percy said, picking up the basket and swimming back through the falls and putting his shoes on once he reached the other side. Nico was right behind him the whole time, almost mirroring his actions. Nico grabbed Percy's hand and they started their trek back to camp Jupiter. At the edge of the forest, they shared one last kiss before Nico headed towards the other end of the line of cabins and Percy headed towards the main cabin area.

After a few weeks of dating in secret, Percy and Nico finally came out to most of camp Jupiter and money was exchanged from bets made on them (which made them both blush) and hugs were passed around.
