I hear footsteps from behind me. "Oh Lia, thank goodness it's you". "Is everything alright" she asks me. Yeah, I'm fine. "Are you sure?" she asks me. "You have been talking to yourself". Actually I have been talking to my mo-? I turn around. And my mom is gone. Lia looks confused. You should probably get ready for school, she says. I nod. I don't want to be late on my first day. I make sure to get everything ready for school. Backpack, check. Books, pencils, check. I grab my things and head to school. When I get to the lobby, Lia stops me. "What were you saying back there?" she asks me. "It's nothing". Okay, she says, "Just know that you can trust me". I give Lia a gentle smile, and walk off to school since it is so close.
When I arrive at school, shivers go down my spine. It is about 5 times as large as my old school, but seemed rather uninviting. Is this really school? I wonder. I look up to find a woman right in front of me. "So, you're the new student right" she says in an annoyed tone. The woman has a large nose, but a small face. "Hey, yeah I came from- she cuts me off. I don't care, just head to class. I don't know where I'm supposed to go, but I'd rather find out from someone else then keep talking to this woman.
When I walk inside the school, I first realize how the school is dimly lit, and how the colors in the hall seem faded and dull. As I put my backpack in an empty locker, I realize that I am the only one in the hallway. I turn around and sprint to the office. As I'm running, I realize that I don't know where I'm going. "Hey, are you the new Kid?". I turn around, to see a short student, with round glasses. Yes, I reply softly. "You moved into the bloody whale apartments, right?" I nod, wondering why he was asking, "How much do you know?"
