Typical and boring, I'm not sure how else to sum up my pitiful life. I ran my hand down my uniform and looked up at my rusty mirror, it was now time to head to work. No matter how much I rather spend time reading at home I knew very well I needed to work and pay my student loans. You see that's what they fail to tell you in high school, they always want you to "follow your dreams" well it's pretty damn hard to do that when you owe thousands, after two years I knew I couldn't afford it anymore.
I took one last look up at my reflection, I had bags under my eyes from staying up reading. If my mother was here she would definitely scold me for not caring more about my appearance, I laughed a bit as I fixed my untamed hair. Quickly I was brought back to reality when I received a call from my uber driver, guess it was time to head to work.
Without any hesitation, I ran out of the bathroom and grabbed my satchel and through my latest book Blood Secrets and ran to the front door and once stepping out I made sure I locked it before I scurried to the uber driver.
Once reaching our destination I thanked the man, I was grateful he didn't force a conversation, I swear that was the worst and most awkward situation anyone can be in. Stepping out I knew the day was young and I had quite some much left before I actually could go back home. I looked up at the library and I smiled to myself, at least it was a place full of books. Stepping inside I breathed in the scent of books, truly that was my favorite thing about libraries.
Thankfully I was early, I knew I was on thin ice and I couldn't be late at all. I walked over to the computer and I clocked in and instantly began to check in books people have returned, I couldn't prevent the yawn that slipped out and Zach my coworker spoke. "Tiered much Angel?" Since we were young he has never called me anything but Angel, it was quite annoying but he would always nag and say it suited me. Zach was one of my only friends and was the main reason I found this job and was hired. "Yea I was up all night reading, I just really couldn't put the book down!"
Zach rolled his emerald eyes and shook his head, "You need to go out and actually live a little, come with me to the club Angel. You never go out and I am tired of going alone, please." I knew if I didn't say yes he would never stop asking and pestering me, I swear I questioned how the hell I ended up in the same place as him. "Fine, BUT I won't stay out for too late."
He grinned and clapped his hands together, I now regretted saying yes. I ran my hand on my face and went back to work until a group of men walked into the library. Now, this was a scene you don't see every day, let me elaborate these men weren't typical old book worms, they were extremely muscular and all looked to be at least 6 foot and higher and in suits! Just as I finished looking at the group one, in particular, stepped in the building and I was stunned on how the fuck such a human could exist on this planet you call earth. The man was at least 6'3 and had a thick black beard, his hair was gelled back and he wore a tight-fitting suit that clearly showed how muscular he was. Yet what really had me catching my breath were his scorching ice cold blue eyes.
Suddenly it hit me, I have been staring for way too long, I felt my cheeks heat up as the man looks at my direction. The man had a slight grin and his glare was almost predatorial, I felt shivers run down my spine. I looked quickly down at the book I had on the table, I felt if I stared any longer I would truly become his prey.
Slowly I lifted my eyes to see him have a cold expression on his face, he looked unpleased. Yet he turned and walked up to the group of men and they traveled further in the library. I figured they were going into the conference rooms you could reserve ahead of time. I very well knew I shouldn't be nosy but god damn when a man like that appears out of nowhere you just can't help but be nosy. I logged in the libraries system to see under what name the room was reserved under and all it said was D. Why the hell would our system accept a letter to reserve our rooms?
