I was woken up to a belt slamming into my back. I screamed in pain as my dad beat me for what seemed like hours. He walked out of my room, and left me there covered in bruises, cuts, and burns. I silently cried as I managed to get out of bed, to take a shower.I stare at my reflection in the mirror, and immediately cringe at the poor figure staring back at me. I brush my hands over the new and old scars, cuts, and bruises. He wasn't always like this. He started getting drunk and aggressive after my mom left 2 years ago. Ever since then he's been taking it out on me.
When i finish washing all the blood off, i slip into a long-sleeved, mint PINK shirt, black leggings, and put on my light brown Ugg boots. I pulled back my platinum blonde hair into a messy high ponytail, and put on some light makeup. I made sure that all my skin was covered so nobody could see what goes on at home.
I walk to school, and walk to my locker. As I'm grabbing my math book, I feel someone standing behind me. Tory. I turn to face her, she's been there for me since day one. She's the only one who knows about my life at home. "Hey beautiful." she says with a smile. I smile back in return. "How's your arm doing?" Yesterday, my dad hit me with a glass beer bottle.
"Better I guess. The smaller cuts have partly gone away."
The warning bell went off, and we headed to class. Math is going to be so boring.
Lunch time came around, and I sat down next to Tory at our usual table. She started rambling on about the test in history, but I wasn't paying any attention. I was too busy looking at Aaron Woods, Rock Creeks bad boy.
He was sitting by William, Scotty, and Tony, his friends. I've had a small crush on Aaron since 7th grade, but I never bothered talking to him. He had shaggy, jet black hair, and dark brown eyes that were almost black. He also has a stud in his nose, that he made work.
Tony said something to make all of them laugh, and I just stared at Aarons smile. God I just love his smile. I turn my attention back towards Tory.
"Hey, I think I'm gonna go to the bathroom." she smiled and nodded. before I left I glanced at Aaron one last time. To my surprise he was already looking at me, I quickly looked away and exited the lunch room.
I was on my way to my locker, not paying any attention, when suddenly I slammed into a hard body. "Uggggh. fuck." I manged to say as I held my head. I looked up at what I ran into. Aaron.
"Sorry, didn't see you there." he smirked. I just rolled my eyes and walked around him. "Wait, what are you doing in the halls?" he asked jogging up to me.
" I could ask you the same." I say without looking at him.
He smirked to himself. "You never answered my question." I glanced up at him, and back to my locker. I sighed.
"I have noting better to do." I wasn't lying, the lunch room was getting rowdy anyways.
"Wanna hangout?" he asked, now leaning up against the locker next to mine.
"As in skipping school with you? No thanks." I replied with a fake smile, and walked around him. Before I could get away he grabbed my forearm. "Oooouunnchh!" I yelped. He instantly loosened his grip on my arm, but kept it firm enough where I couldn't go no where.
"I'm sorry, what about we hang after school sometime?" I looked up at him. He had a sincere look on his face.
"I'll think about it." I said. The bell rings, and kids flood the halls. I walk off losing Aaron in the crowd. One thing was on my mind though. Why was he being so nice to me?
School was now over, so I headed to the small coffee shop downtown. I always love going there. It takes my mind off of what's going on in my life.
I order my coffee, and find a seat by the window, admiring the light snowfall outside. Winter has always been my favorite season, because I enjoy watching all the children play in the snow, and being joyful. Oh how i missed those days.
After I finished up, I head back towards my house. My dad should be at work, so I'll do some chores and clean up the house.
A few hours later, I get interrupted during my homework. My dad walks in half buzzed, but sober enough to think straight. He only yells when he's like this, but it's when he's really drunk that he gets abusive. "Can you do me a favor and run to the grocery store, and get me a 6 pack of beer?" he asked in a very deep tone.
"Yes sir." I sigh, getting off my bed.
As I'm walking back to the house, I feel like someones watching me. I start to walk a little faster, when suddenly I'm being stop by a guy. "Now what's a pretty little girl like you doing out in the cold?" he said grinning, while taking a hold of my forearm.
"Get off me." I say harshly. He didn't take it too well and tighten his grip around my arm.
I winched at the pain, that shot up through my arm and shoulder. I kicked him in the leg hard, but quickly regretted doing so. "You little-" as he has his fist in the air getting ready to hit me, when he was interrupted. A man comes out of no where, and rips the guy away from me. I stand there in amazement, as the man punches the guy.
"Did he hurt you?" the man asked concerned. As he can closer I realized it was Aaron. He walks over and examines my face.
"How did you know I was here?" I questioned in shock.
"I was out and about when I heard noises, and decided to check it out." he said still examining my face. "Are you sure your okay?" he asked one last time.
"I'm sure." I said reassuring him. I blushed a little at the thought of how caring he was acting.
"I'll walk you the rest of the way home." he said in a stern voice, giving me no choice to argue.
We were halfway back when he asked out of nowhere "So what were you doing out here so late?"
"I was getting stuff for my father." I didn't want to tell him what I got, scared of him judging or making fun of me. He looked at the bag I had in my hand and looked back up at me. "Alcohol?" he question raising an eyebrow.
"Yea.." I said quietly, not making eye contact.
"He makes you go get him alcohol?" he says raising his voice, getting angry.
"Yeah, but it' fine. I'v been doing it for about 2 years." I say in a low voice.
"No, that's just wrong." he says getting upset. I didn't know what to do, so I put a hand on his shoulder to try to calm him down a bit. He tensed up when I first made contact, making me jump a little, but soon relaxed to my touch.
"I'm sorry." he says quietly.
"Your fine." I say with a small smile.
We arrive at my house and Aaron walks me to the front porch.
"Thank you for walking me home." I say.
"No problem." he smiles.
"Goodnight." I say with a thankful smile.
"Goodnight." he says back, leaving the porch.
I wonder why he's been so nice to me all day. I walk into the house, putting the beer on the counter. "Daaaad, I got your beer!!" I yell, and walk upstairs to my bedroom. I walk into my closet to change into a t-shirt, and some shorts. When I walked out there stood my dad, drunker than hell holding a belt.
