I' am at my house looking at the photographs on the wall, I haven't seen those for a very long time but the memories were like new, like it just happened yesterday. The house looks older though, I'm not used to seeing it this way. I guessed 5 years is enough to make me realized that I really need to go home.
My phone rings, I received a text message, "5 minutes, can't wait to see you"
I smiled and looked at the pictures once again. I can't believe that I'm going to see the 2 most important people in my life, they were not just my best friends but they are also the only family I've got.
I went outside; breathe in the fresh breeze while waiting. The wind is getting stronger and the most beautiful scene that you'll see is my house and the leaves that falls like confetti. The nature really knows how to welcome the people that I love.
A minute later, I can see cars approaching. Can't explain what I'm feeling, so much happiness. I feel like my heart is going to explode.
Two beautiful people came out of their cars and before we can say a word, both of them rush to give me a very warm embrace. Tears are falling down on each other's face, tears of so much joy.
"It's almost sunset, we have to get inside" said Shailene.
Since our friendship started, it has been our spare-time to watch the sunset together, this moment is very important to us because looking at the sunset calms and warms our spirit. Everyday is a challenging day for our friendship so it gives us a feeling that we can overcome everything. It is a sign that we can dream, and together we can make those dream come true.
Reminiscing and catching up is what we did for about 2 hours. With a glass of wine on top of the roof, sunset, amazing friends and great memories, it's almost perfect to end the night.
For years that we've been apart I can say that our friendship grew stronger and everyday we're learning from each other's mistakes and experiences. I think that I may not be able to survive without them.... Okay, now maybe you're wondering how did it all started, actually I was just about to start my story..So sit back, relax and take your cooked popcorn from the microwave...
------------------13 YEARS LATER-------------------
It was the beginning of school and I was on my junior year. I don't have much friends in school even the fact that I've been going to this school for 3 years now. Is it because I look like a nerdy girl who always wants to be alone or because I think differently from other people and that's why people often misunderstood me? I don't really care at all, as long as I know that I don't hurt others. I'll just continue with my life.
My class for the day is finished. I was on my way to my locker when suddenly a bunch of guys going on my direction intentionally bumped me then all the books that I'm holding all scattered on the ground.
"Jeesh, why does it always have to be me?" I was thinking to myself.
While I was picking my books, a girl suddenly appears in front of me and she's helping me. Before I can say a word, I was surprised when I saw her face. "Wait.....I know her......."
"Hey, thank you for helping.."I said with a nervous voice.
"Don't worry about it, why do you let those guys push you around?" she asked
I guessed fighting back is not my thing, I don't think it will solve my problem or any problems of this world. Umm...or maybe I'm just thinking too much.
"By the way, I'm Shailene, and you? Okay, I know we always meet here in school but I never really got the chance to talk to you or even know your name, I apologized about that." She smiled.
"Yes of course, I'm Chelsea. No worries, it's understandable"
I was surprised that she already thought about that, I mean all this time, I only feel that no one's really interested in making friends with me. I guessed I need to thank those guys who pushed me a while ago because of them I think I'm going to have a new friend.
"Where are you going? I can drop you" she asked
"Oh no thanks, its okay. I have a bike"
"No one has ever said 'No' to me" then she held my hand and pulled me towards her car.
How can I refuse in this situation, besides she's the one who offers me a ride. I should take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity.
"I'm going to the park" I said with a shy sound
"Okay, you can put your bike at the back"
It's only 10 minutes drive from our school to the park but we've already talked about our families and other personal things. I wasn't actually surprised about her family background; I mean she's not only famous in school also her family is one of the richest in town, her father owns a lot of business not only here even international.
Shailene: "By the way I'm wondering, what are you going to do in the park? And why do you bring so many stuffs? What are those?"
Me: "These are just books and some food. Twice a week or depend on my free time, we always gather and do some activities with some of the children from the orphanage, located just across the park. I have nun friends there; they are the ones whose helping me accomplished this every week"
Shailene: "Oh I see, what kind of activities you guys are doing?"
Me: "We play games, read stories, or sing a song. Whatever we can do, just simple things. I just want those children to feel that they are loved and someone cares for them, even if so many bad things are happening in this world."
Shailene: "Hmmm...interesting!..."
