The Renaissance was a cultural movement that spanned the period roughly from the 14th to the 17th century, beginning in Italy in the Late Middle Ages and later spreading to the rest of Europe. From the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, there were many impactful changes that occurred in society.

For example. During the Renaissance, there was an underwhelming focus on the afterlife. This was because of the recent events of the Black Plague. Everyone prayed for god, or whoever they believed in, to save them from the deadly disease. That, however, never happened. Because of this devastating occurrence, none of the survivors had any belief in religion when they entered the next time period, the Renaissance. So, since almost no one focused on religion anymore, there was an increased focus on the individual person. This not only impacted people at the time, but even today people are encouraged to pursuit their own interested whether it be selecting subjects at school to careers. Also, during the Renaissance, there was an increased focus on the arts and discovery. This caused an upsurge of discoveries in science, medicines, astronomy and technologies. These discoveries opened many doors for creating new technologies and advances in worldwide needs. Things like medicine improved greatly, meaning that humans could identify and fight off diseases . Humans, over time, were also able to improve these medicines to the point where we have eradicated some diseases entirely. Astronomers also realised that the Earth rotated, and the sun stayed in place, contrary to belief in the middle ages of the sun orbiting the Earth. During The Middle Ages, there was an extremely strict hierarchy that had the king on the top and all powerful, and the peasants on the bottom with little to no rights. However, when The Renaissance era began, the peasants rose up—result of the newly increased individualism—and evened out the hierarchy. This still has lasting impacts today because if it wasn't evened out, today's society would not have the equal rights that gives people the same opportunities of our modern world.
