Chapter 25

The moon shines in the dark sky as the grey clouds swim on by in the atmosphere. Toby, EJ, Masky and Hoodie quietly walk through the forest as their steps were heard from the crunching of leaves and snapping of twigs.

"I-It's the lake o-over t-there," Toby points through the bushes. "Wait, quick question," EJ pipes up which causes the trio to look at him. "If that creature in the lake was singing because it's a siren, why weren't you put under her spell like Liu?"
"Because he's a bloody child that doesn't know the meaning of Photosynthesis," Masky smirks under his mask which causes Toby to gasp.

"I d-do too know w-what t-that means!" He whisper shouts but Masky only shakes his head before he signals EJ to follow him to the lake. "H-Hey Hoodie, what-t does P-Photosynthesis mean?" Giving a laugh, Hoodie stands up with Toby right next to him. "But w-what does it-t mean?!" Toby questions but Hoodie doesn't reply, following EJ and Masky to the water line.

Placing his palms on the hatchets buckled to his waist, Toby keeps his brown eyes peeled as he makes his way up next to EJ who stood there with his hands in his pockets. "So, any ideas on how to not be put under the siren's spell?" EJ questions.

"Be childish like Toby," Masky grumbles while turning his head to the brunette with another smirk under his mask. "Be o-old like Masky," Toby shot back with a sneer under his mouth guard which causes Masky to click his tongue and a vein to grow on the side of his head in anger.

"You wanna get shot Rogers?"
"Y-You wanna sleep-p with the fishies T-Timmy?!"
"Will you two quit it!" EJ hits both their heads while Hoodie tries to cover up his amusement.

"I suggest that we find something that will block out the sound of her singing," EJ says while crouching down to the water and swishing his fingers around, trying to think of possible ways to get Liu back. Toby pulls faces at Masky from under his mouth guard and goggles but Hoodie simply shakes his head at his childish actions.

Once again, a beautiful voice fills the air as the four boys turn towards the lake, the layer of fog producing a grey silhouette sitting on the rocks once more. "EJ?" Toby questions while touching his shoulder. "It's good to see you again cutie~"

Flinching, Toby slowly faces the siren as she grins. "Come to me my loves~" After she said that, she begins singing louder, directing her sound waves towards Toby mainly. 'Damn it! The others are easily under her spell! What do I do?!' Toby begins to slightly freak out but then it's like a light bulb switched on in his head. 'I'm blaming Masky for this...'

Suddenly, with the other boys, Toby steps slowly towards the siren like he was in a trance, moving a hand towards his hatchet for the next step of his plan. Once he was close enough, he was knee deep in the water with the others. The siren sat in front of him on the dark rough rocks. "I'm so glad you decided to join me~ I'll turn you into a lovely snack~" she goes to brush her webbed, scaly hand against his cheek which causes Toby to screech internally.

Quicker than sound, Toby whips out his hatchet and quickly swings for the siren's neck, her yellow eyes widening as she tries to move back. Somehow, Toby was able to cut just above her collarbone which causes a glowing light to fall from the wound and into the water. The siren grabs at her neck as her mouth opens and closes like a fish as all sounds from her mouth silence.

"Toby? What happened?"
Turning around, Toby gives a grin while lifting his goggles and placing them onto his messy hair. "G-Glad to see you guys a-are b-back! I saved y-your butts!"
Masky then points his gun at Toby and rapidly fires. Jumping, Toby turns around to find the siren about to attack him with her claws up, but then she falls back into the water.
