The couple promptly returned home after spending a week in Paris. When Calven was with Marydeth, his face remained as expressionless as ever. He insisted on going home because he didn't want to prolong their stay. He has no desire to remain in a location where he and Marydeth find themselves in solitude for an extended period of time.
Calven couldn't help but observe that the girl seemed to be deliberately avoiding him ever since he had awoken in a rather inebriated state at the local bar. Calven found himself in a state of confusion, unsure of what had transpired.
However, he couldn't help but admit that he rather enjoyed the moments when Marydeth seemed to be preoccupied and not giving him much attention. Despite a lingering curiosity about what transpired, he remained indifferent.
As he cast a quick glance in Marydeth's direction, he noticed that his so-called wife appeared lost in contemplation, her gaze fixed on the scenery passing by outside the private jeep.
Marydeth avoids making eye contact with him, a gesture he appreciates. However, he finds it somewhat peculiar, and it doesn't sit well with him. Calven expressed his annoyance by rolling his eyes.
Marydeth gazed at him, and in turn, Calven directed his gaze towards her. Raising an eyebrow at the woman, he caused Marydeth to quickly avert her gaze and refocus on the window. Her face was adorned with the unmistakable expression of guilt.
'Not only did she steal my life, but she also took away my happiness.' Calven uttered it sternly under his breath.
Once more, his gaze fell upon Marydeth, and a heavy sigh escaped his lips. 'She possesses a captivating beauty, yet I find myself less inclined towards women who display excessive fixation. In the event that our paths cross again in the future, perhaps I will find myself capable of loving her. However, at this present moment? No!' he exclaimed, his voice filled with defiance.
Calven pondered once more. Out of nowhere, the flight attendant made her way towards Marydeth. Marydeth gazed upon it while quietly absorbing their conversation.
The flight attendant turned to Marydeth and kindly informed her, "My lady, we will soon be arriving at your airport." Calven couldn't help but wonder as he observed the woman's simple nod before she returned to her task.
Calven wasn't taken aback by the fact that some of the things they came across belonged to Marydeth. Calven's fist tightened as he observed the woman, his gaze fixated on her actions.
Marydeth reclined in the chair, allowing herself a moment of respite. She gently shut her eyes, embracing the tranquility that enveloped her.
Calven's mind filled with curses as he witnessed tears cascading from the corners of his eyes, tears that the woman had likely suppressed for quite some time.
'Oh no! Why is it that I find myself burdened with this overwhelming sense of guilt? I should feel content, for it was my intention to disrupt her life and cause her pain in this marriage. However, an unexpected sentiment arises within me, questioning whether it was right to bring tears to her eyes. Tsk, I should stop this guilty feeling and continue with my first plan.' Calven scolded himself.
He remained silent, refraining from stealing another glance at Marydeth. He closed his eyes and unknowingly slipped into a brief slumber. "Young Master, we are here in the Philippines."
With a gentle movement, Calven rolled over as the flight attendant roused him from his slumber. Calven, feeling a hint of annoyance, rolled his eyes in search of Marydeth. Once again, the flight attendant mentioned that the young lady descended from the aircraft ahead of everyone else.
However, a complication arose as one of her hotels insisted on visiting the mansion before proceeding further. Calven let out a dismissive scoff, then proceeded to stretch his arms. The flight attendant's shaking of his head didn't bother him, as he found it quite amusing.
Calven remains steadfast in his commitment to being authentic to his true self. Descending from the plane, he made his way down.
Without hesitation, he swiftly exited the premises. However, a group of ten people suddenly blocked his path, causing him to instinctively recoil. The men before him were of immense size, reminiscent of bouncers.
Despite any rebellious tendencies he may possess, he knew he stood no chance against opponents of such magnitude. "We apologize, Master. It appears that you are taken aback by the fact that we will be accompanying you to the mansion," one of the men informed him.
Calven clenched his jaw and balled his hand into a tight fist. 'Motherf*cker! The reason for requiring a guard is not to imply that you have any intention of running away, but rather to ensure your safety and well-being. My disdain for that girl has only intensified! She exerts an overwhelming influence over every aspect of my existence!' In the depths of Calven's being, a scream echoed, yet he resolved to trail behind them, for he found himself bereft of alternatives.
As he takes each step, his jaw falls open in astonishment, while a group of bodyguards swiftly encircles him. The grumbling of the travelers can be heard.
Rather than experiencing a sense of importance, he finds himself feeling embarrassed. He had the distinct impression that Marydeth had orchestrated a situation that would inevitably lead to his humiliation in the presence of numerous individuals.
As Calven enters the car, he quietly expresses his frustration with Marydeth in his thoughts. 'Marydeth, you are truly a source of my frustration!'
