A Poem I Had Written As a Drawing

So for school one day, I was really bored, and I did a little free-writing. One time, I had written a poem called The Dream Catcher.

(WARNING: The poem does symbolize dark subjects that some readers may not be comfortable with!)

The meaning behind this poem is that a man has lost his lover to suicide, and in memory of her death, a dream catcher is hung where she had died. Later on, the man returns, filled with grief, and he too takes his own life, leaving a dream catcher in his place much like his lover had done before him.

If it's hard for you to read what the poem says, here's how it goes:

As I follow you, my love,

I'm brought to a silent place.

I know now why you rest here, my love,

when nothing disturbs the peace.

Upon a withering willow

hangs a dream catcher.

It grimly hangs for you,

its fate too was similar.

Other than a rope on that willow,

another dream catcher is hung, but not for you.

That dream catcher's for me, my love,

and it hangs there like we both do too.
