I wake up with my alarm blaring in my ear. I struggle to keep my eyes open long enough to hit off. I finally muster up the strength to get myself out of my queen size bed. I quickly change my clothes and straighten my hair. Game Day, my first game day. Crossing my fingers nobody really needs me, except to stretch out.
After I drop Cody off with his babysitter, I arrive at the stadium, I see the team already filling the corridor to the locker room and the training room.
I see the man that occupied my dreams last night. I instantly get nervous, thinking about what my dream was last night.
I blush and look down. I quickly make my way to the training room avoiding eye contact.
I hear a knock on the door, "Come in." I see him stick his head in, "hey Johnson, you have time to stretch me out real quick before the game?" He smiles his signature smile. "I can't turn down one of my favorite players." No, I didn't just say that.
His turn to blush. He looks so good in his home uniform. He walked in as he shut the door.
He lays down on the table and I begin to stretch his legs out. "Right before every game my legs always cramp up," Christian said.
"Do you eat bananas?" I ask avoiding eye contact again. "No why?" "They'll help with the cramps." I continue to stretch his legs out.
My hand accidentally slipped to his manhood. I instantly jerked my hand away. I turned to write something down in his file. I close my eyes from the embarrassment. "Claire, it's okay. I know it was an accident." He gets up and spins me to face him. I look up at him, his eyes search mine. Hopefully, he can't see the sheer horror.
His eyes are a light brown today, they are filled with a mixture of emotions. Searching his eyes instantly calm me down. I smile, "I'm sorry." I say. "It's okay like I said I know it was an accident. Thanks for stretching me, now I'll be able to run around the field without my legs cramping up." He smiles down at my short stature.
"Like I said Christian, start eating bananas before practices and games, they'll help." I smile back up at him. "Will do." With that, he walks out and leaving me with all the emotions. What am I feeling?
I quickly grab my phone and see a picture of my green-eyed baby, this is who I'm doing this for. I grab my bag and walk out to the dugout. I see the team and coach. "Hey Johnson, ready for game day?" Craig asks. "As ready as I'll ever be, hopefully, I'm not needed." "Yeah hopefully." Craig agreed.
The whole game I was only needed once and that was to stretch out Hader's pitching arm.
I kept stealing glances at Christian. I shouldn't be doing this, but I can't stop myself.
I deserve to love again, but I don't want to put myself through the heartbreak again. I quickly shake off the thoughts and pack up my bag.
I start making the walk back to my car and I run into Ryan Bauer; left fielder. "Hey Johnson, wait up." I see him running to catch up. I smile at him, "hey Ryan." He smiles down at me. "So I know it's none of my business, but I know Yeli likes you. Please just be careful." "What do you mean?" I give him a confused look.
"Yeli is a great guy, I just don't want you guys to start dating and break up and ruin everything." I try to stifle my laugh. "Ryan I'm not looking for anything right now. My son's father fucked me up. Like I told Christian, I'm here to do a job that's it." I say approaching my car.
I turn to him. "Sometimes you can't help who you fall for. So all I'm saying is if you do mix business with pleasure just be careful about it. Okay? I don't want to lose either of you." I smile at his half-ass compliment. "Thanks, Ryan, have a good night I'll see you tomorrow." He gives me a nod, "night Claire."
I'm here to make a better life for not only me but my son.
Flashback
I walked out of the training room and see my green-eyed boyfriend smiling his perfect smile. "Hey babe," he said with his sing-song voice. "Hey, great game babe." I stretch to reach his lips as he meets me in the middle. "I'm so lucky to have you." He informs me, I laugh. "If anything I'm the lucky one. You got me this job, gave me a beautiful son, and this amazing smile." He blushes his signature blush. "I love you, Claire Rae." I smile up at him, "I love you too Alexander David." He kisses my lips once more.
