Some people hate long journeys. They find it useless, so they get into a plane and try to be there the quickest way possible. But some people get into their car and enjoy the long way ahead.

Natasha Romanoff was included in the second group of people. She has been to a lot of places. She stepped foot in a lot of countries and cities. But she never managed to stay long enough to notice the beauty of them. She didn't care. All because she had things to do. Things she stopped doing a long time ago.

She could've gone five years ago. She could start the journey she waited for so long even before. But she couldn't. There was something that connected her to this place. Small, a small piece of hope that never left.

And the person who took that and made it even bigger came five years later. Scott Lang. She knew him from Civil War. He changed all her thoughts.

Time travel.

Didn't it just happen in movies? She thought it was weird. Even stupid.

But she knew that they had to try no matter how stupid that sounded. Just like she said years ago, they owed it to everyone who wasn't here.

Just like Steve said; If they wanted to continue their lives, they had to try everything. Whatever it takes.

First thing they did was to go to Tony. The little girl she saw when she came into the house, Morgan, was something she would never have. A child.

She turned her eyes somewhere else to put herself back together while she listened to Scott. But the brunet  man had a sharp answer.

No.

They couldn't say anything. The man was afraid. He had a family and he was scared of what could happen to them.

Natasha understood him very well. Even she was scared of the things that could happen to her family.

Things escalated quickly after they left. They couldn't get anything useful from Bruce's research. At that moment, the young woman thoughtwhile watching her friends start to lose all the hope they had.

What happens if I leave now? What happens if I try to get the life I've always wondered? What happens if I travel to different countries?

But, seriously. What would happen? The only person that could build a time machine wasn't with them. They had absolutely nothing to do.

But she pushed all her thoughts away as her most beautiful shade of green eyes found the man entering the room. She let all of her cells relax as she looked at Tony with a smile she couldn't hide.

There was only one thing left to do. Bringing the team together.

When Bruce said that he could bring Thor, she was already ready to go. She knew where to go. Tokio.

She was going to go there and bring back her friend who was the biggest reason she had this family.

And she did.

She knew all the things he had done during the last five years. The things that happened to his family, the people he killed. But it didn't matter anymore.

"We can bring them back"

The young woman told her friend. But she couldn't stop and not gulp with the painful expression on her friends face.

"Don't. Don't give me hope."

She placed her hand in his friends palm while looking at him with the painful smile in her face.

"Hope is always there, Clint."

Her friend held her hand likenhe needed it after all this talking. And they went back home, to their  family.

Everything was ready. The team was back together like the old days. The machine was completed and they knew where the stones were.

And now, everyone was looking at each other, smiling. Natasha looked at her friends before closing her mask and told them her last words.

"See you in a minute."

That place was weird, so weird. The air was trying to choke them with all its darkness. The duo started walking together and opened their eyes for any kind of danger. The young woman took a deep breath while feeling the air of Vormir getting inside of her.

"I am going to jump into my car and go when all this ends. I am going to travel far away."

She smiled when she heard her friend laugh.

"Good idea Nat. You should move on with your life."

They both switched into fighting positions as a strange voice filled their ears not even letting Natasha to shake her head to what her friend just said.

"Welcome to Vormir. Natasha, Daughter of Ivan. Clint, son of Edith."

Natasha frowned. How did it even know that?

"You came here for the soul stone."

She looked at the thing in front of her as she held her head high.

"Then we don't have to sit and wait. Give us the stone amd we will go."

The strange man shaked his head and signed them to follow him.

"Not so easy. You have to sacrifice someone you love in order to have the stone. A soul for a soul.

She gulped as she stared at the deep cliff with an anxious feeling. What needed to be done was open wide.

"We both know who'll go."

"Yeah, we do."

They both had different people in mind when looking at each other. When the young woman told him that, he shaked his head furiously.

"No! Natasha, I am the person that should go. Take the stone and leave. Save everyone. And then you get to live your life. Go to that trip you always wanted."

The red haired woman shaked her head as she sent him a painful smile.

"Your family is waiting for you, Clint."

They silently looked at each other for a while. Clint murmured while leaning onto Natasha's forehead and placed his head.

"You are a pain in the ass, you know."

The young woman silently chuckled.

"Tell my family I love them."

And with these words, the two best friends started to fight for one anothers death. The both didn't mind sacrificing themselves for each other.

Just as when Clint was going to jump off the cliff and end everything, the red haired woman caught her. Now they were both hanging from the cliff, Clint was holding Natasha's hand.

"Let me go."

The man looked at her, tears filling up in his eyes, begging her not to let go.

"Don't, please. No."

She looked at her best friend one last time with a smile filled with tears and pain.

"It's okay."

She pushed herself with the help of her legs. She took her last breaths while letting her hand free from Clint's grip and falling.

Was it worth it? All that? Without a doubt, it was. It was worth it for Clint, for her family.

She thought one last time while placing a small smile and closing her eyes. How could she know that she was going to go on a journey to eternity when all she wanted was a simple car trip?

Whoever told that all of the journeys have an ending lied. Because Natasha Romanoff's journey was going to last an eternity...
