"Unit 37! To attention!"
I stood up straight, and put my hand on my chest.
"Yes Commander Walter! I drifted off, it wont happen again!" I replied quickly.
"Thats what you said the last 10 times 37. If I catch you dozing youll be scrubbing floors!"
I gulped and nodded my head. I had a tendency to drift off during roll call, I never really payed much mind to the unnecessary pep talk or community assignments. I knew what I wanted to hear, and that was-
"Unit 37, what you will be doing is investigating the southern side of the wall. We were left an anonymous tip that there will be rebellious activity there. If there is, make sure to shut it down," Commander Walter said.
"You can leave it to me sir, those rebels wont know what hit them," and with that I headed out. I jumped on my bike and rode to my destination. Once I was a good walking distance away, I hopped off and stealthily made my way. Hiding behind a building close to the wall, I could hear the sounds of a conversation.
"Did you bring the rope we needed Carlos?"
"Yeah, I did. Do you have the supplies we agreed on?"
"Of course I do. But how do we get past the force field? Anyone have any ideas? Jack?"
"Why do you think I wanted to meet at this time? After studying it for a while, Ive determined that in about 5 minutes the field is at its weakest. We should all be able to get out if we move quick and all together."
I figured this was as far as I was going to let this go. Get beyond the wall? Do they not know how dangerous, not to mention illegal that is? Besides, there was no way the shield could ever weaken enough. Might as well save them from some third degree burns.
"Step away from the wall, now. And do so quietly."
They turned to look at me, not expecting me to have been there obviously. I could see them look at each other and make subtle nod. Then they ran to attack. For most this would have been a problem, but not for me. I took a quick look at who I was fighting. A boy with projectiles, who seemed to be sending multiple magic blasts. Another boy, who seemed more on the offense equipped with nunchuks, he was backed up by a girl who seemed to have lightning speed. Now to think up a way to best them all.
First I decided to go for the girl, even though it would be annoying to keep dodging projectiles I wouldnt be able to focus or get close enough with her zooming around. She ran circles around me, landing multiple punches on me. But when she charged at me I used her speed against her, dodging which led her her falling to the ground. While she was down I quickly pulled out handcuffs and attached them to both her legs, wouldnt be running so fast now huh. She tried to kick at me and punch me away but I caught her hands and cuffed them behind her back. Now the offense guy was on me, and I left the girl to fight him off. He had a lot more strength than his comrade, but I tazed him and took his weapons away from him. Then soon as I was able to I cuffed him as well. Last was the projectiles guy, he landed enough hits on me already. Dodging his attacks, I finally got up close and personal with him. But he just stopped and put his hands out. Easy win I guess.
"Alright you three, now why in the world would you try getting over the wall? The government doesnt allow it, and you dont even know whats out there. Also the shield is impassible, its like you guys want 3rd degree burns. And you!" I pointed to the projectiles guy, "You give up too fast. Literally who the hell just accepts arrest???"
"I honestly could care less officer," he said.
"Fuck you and fuck your government. Fucking pigs the lot of you, one day were all gonna get the fuck out of here and youll be stuck rotting in hell," the nunchuks guy hissed.
"Dont you understand this is for your own safety? God you must be real dense," I replied.
"You know what else is for my own safety?" he retorted. Suddenly I felt something like chains wrap around my legs, and next thing you know Im in the air, flying towards the shield. I prepared myself for pain, but I fazed right through. The weak point, could it have possibly been true?
And that guy... he had magic as well?
Many thoughts surged my mind, and looking below me as I fell I realized I was outside. Then I felt a sharp pain and thud, then it was black.
