"How'd school go?"
Kinsley glanced up shortly at the blonde across from the island that the brunette was sitting at. She barely halted from writing her biology answer on the blank sheet of paper while she answered, "fine."
The blonde pursed her lips at the vague answer before continuing, "did you make any friends?"
Kinsley paused this time in her writing to actually look up at her brother's long-time girlfriend. "I met a few people." Kinsley paused in her answer. "Everyone's extremely welcoming."
Josie gave the young brunette a smile before continuing dinner. "That's small town folk for ya." She laughed. "I see you made friends with the Chief's daughter."
"Bella? Yeah, she seems great."
"She's a good crowd to hang around."
Kinsley narrowed her eyebrows at the implication coming from her neighbor, but before she could comment further, the front door opened with a yell from her older brother; announcing his arrival home.
A firm hand to her hair had her groaning back at the interruption from her previous conversation. Figuring that she was free of the questioning, Kinsley went back to her biology homework.
"How was everyone's day?" Elijah asked, sitting down at the spare seat at the middle island.
"Fine," came Kinsley's answer again, making Josie's eyes roll at the same one word answer she had received previously.
"Kinsley made friends with one of those Cullen boys," Josie gossiped with a smirk thrown over her shoulder towards the quiet teen.
Kinsley's eyes widened and was quick to defend herself, but Elijah already started with his questioning.
"Which one? It better not be that big burly one, he looks like trouble—"
