"Megs, get up. Get up, get up, get up!!" someone screeched.

"Ten more minutes" I groaned, turning over and pulling the blankets up to my shoulder.

"Mae, she's not getting up"

"That's it" and with that, I was shoved out of the bed. I fell to the ground with a yelp and sat up, glaring at everyone.

"I wanna sleep" I whined, grabbing my glasses and putting them on my face. Mae, Riley, and Wren came into focus and I realized that they had changed out of their PJ's.

"Why are you guys awake? It's like three in the morning" I sighed, getting up and pulling my hair into a messy ponytail. One of them had opened the blinds of my windows which caused the light from the street-lamp to filter into the room. That, along with the fact that one of my friends had turned on the lights, confused me as to how I stayed asleep.

"We're screwed," Wren said, plopping down on her sleeping bag.

"Megs, get your ass into the shower we're like three hours late" James yelled, barging into my room and glaring at everyone. I covered my cheeks in shock.

"Oh my God, oh my God. I'm so sorry, give me like twenty minutes and I'll be ready. Wren, could you zip up my suitcase and grab my camera?" I squealed, grabbing my clothes and running into my bathroom. Ten minutes later, I was sprinting out of the bathroom, hoping that James and Fletcher didn't kill me for making everyone late. I placed my minimal makeup supplies in a Ziploc bag, including my toothbrush and a tiny tube of toothpaste.

"Where is she?" I heard Fletcher's muffled voice say. I threw open the door and ran into my room, grabbing random things I might need and throwing them into my backpack.

"I'm in here" I shouted, looking at myself in the mirror and grinning at the outfit. I was wearing jean shorts and a baggy, wool, gray sweater. I had straightened my hair the night before, so the strands fell down my shoulders in cascades. My dark brown eyes were carefully outlined in eyeliner and my lips were covered in chapstick. Grabbing my sunglasses off of the dresser and collecting my things, I walked downstairs where I heard the soft babble of talking. My mom was near the front door, talking to Riley when I arrived.

"Sorry, are we late?" I asked, grinning at my mom and turning to my friend.

"Lucky for you, James is an early riser or we'd all be in trouble. I'm gonna help load up" Riley teased, hugging my mom and exiting the house.

"Meghana, please, please, don't do anything dumb. I am counting on you to keep the others safe. The only reason we are sending you is because-"

"Riley and Wren are going, I know mom. I love you and I'm gonna call you after I get some rest ok. Tell Krishang to not bother you too much while I'm gone and dad to finish fixing the projector. I love you" I ended, pecking her on the cheek and walking outside. I had everything that I would need in my suitcase and olive-green backpack. I knew I had forgotten something and Noah reminded me when I reached the back of the car.

"Love, your shoes are missing"

"Crap, thanks for reminding me" I yelled before I sprinted into my house. I grabbed my ratty, old, black converse and hugged my mom one last time before running out again. Fletcher slammed the back of the car shut and the others filed into the car, leaving me to sit shotgun.

"Try not to do anything too gross," Mae told both of us before resting herself comfortably between Wren and Fletcher. I felt my cheeks burn as Noah started the car. My mom waved to me as we drove off and I sighed as I settled into my seat.

"Now, don't go being a hero and drive more than the needed time. You need sleep too" I teased, turning to Noah who only rolled his eyes and smiled.
