I woke up to my mom in my face. It wasn't anything new, more like routine, so I didn't freak out or anything.

"Are you awake now or do I have to drag you out of bed? Or maybe I'll have your dad do it for me." She snarled.

My blue eyes widened. I hated when my dad got me out of bed. I jumped out of bed and fixed it.

"Good now make yourself decent: we'll have company any minute." I nodded and she walked out, slamming the door behind her.

I went to my bathroom and looked at myself. My blue and purple hair was everywhere and I had makeup smeared on my face. Looks like I forgot to take off my makeup last night. I quickly washed the makeup from my face and brushed my hair. I walked to my closet and opened the doors. I grabbed a red Blood on the Dance Floor shirt and a black jeans mini skirt with black tights.

As I was changing I noticed my left wrist was bleeding. I figured it was my cuts so I went into the bathroom and cleaned it off and wrapped it with guaze. I finished changing and put on my black combat boots. I put on a cuff so my parents wouldn't notice because if they found out who knows what they'd do to me. I put on about twenty bracelets on my right wrist to make it not so suspicious and put on makeup. I just put on eyeliner and pink lip gloss then put on my septum piercing and snake bites. I walked into the living room and saw my dad sitting on the couch reading a newspaper. He looked up at me and scoffed.

"I thought your mom told you to dress decent not like a slut. Go put some jeans on, gosh." He spat at me.

I started to head to my room when the door bell rang. Saved by the bell. "Well looks like you don't have enough time now so just sit down." I did as I was told and he went to open the door.

My mom walked in and sat down on the other side of the couch. My dad opened the door and our company inside. I took notice of what my parents were wearing. My mom was in a flowery dress with black flats and my dad was in a blue t-shirt, some nice jeans, and black shoes. "Mr. Pierce this is my wife, Lynette, and my daughter, Trinity."

I didn't look at the man my dad brought inside. I was always told that when we had company over I was to keep my head down and not talk so that's exactly what I was doing. I saw a pair of black shoes walk over to me and felt someone sit down next to me.

"Good job, Trinity. If you continue this maybe you'll get a reward tonight." My dad whispered to me. I nodded.

"Well it's very nice to meet you both. As you may know I'm Richard Pierce or better known as Christopher's boss. I came today to talk about a big promotion that includes all of you, unless one of you doesn't want part of it." Mr. Pierce announced. I wonder that this 'big promotion' is. "It looks like we have no objections so I'll tell you what this promotion is."

He took about ten minutes to explain it all to us. I was agreeing with everything so far until he got to a certain point that I didn't like at all, I didn't like it one bit. He said we would have to move to California. I didn't want to leave Columbia. I mostly didn't want to leave Alex. Alex is my best friend, has been since first grade. He helps me through everything including living with my parents. He even talked me out of attempting suicide. This part I objected to. I stood up and looked Mr. Pierce right in the eye.

"No. I'm not leaving Columbia and I don't care what any of you have to say. I'm not leaving." I stated bluntly.

"Oh don't be ridiculous sweetheart. This is up to me and your father, not you." My mom said. 'Sweetheart'? Ok that's weird, my mom never calls me sweetheart.

"Your mother's right Trinity. Leave this up to me and your mother and just go back to your room." My dad added. I shook my head at him and he gave me a 'Go to hell' look.

"No, I'm not going to my room nor am I leaving this up to you two. Look Mr. Pierce it was nice meeting you and your offer was great and all but we decline. So if you would just kindly leave us." I said politely. Mr. Pierce nodded with a smile and went to stand up but my dad stood up before he did.

"Trinity, stop it. Mr. Pierce don't listen to her, she doesn't know what she's talking about." He said. Mr. Pierce sat back down and watched us as we argued.

"Oh hell no. I don't care what you do to me later, I am not leaving Columbia. I'm not leaving Alex! You two can me here and go to California for all I care but I'm not going anywhere." I retorted. My mom grabbed my arm and dragged me into my room. Oh yay, I'm about to get my ass beat, fun. Notice the sarcasm?

She pushed me into my room and slammed my door shut. It was quiet for a minute then I heard the front door shut. I looked out my window and saw Mr. Pierce walking to his car. He looked at my window, giving me a sympathetic look then got in his car and drove away. My door opened and my dad walked in.

"What the fuck was that?! Do you realize that you might have cost us a big opportunity? And all for a boy? You're pathetic!" He screamed.

I didn't have enough time to cover my face before he slapped me. I put my hand up to my cheek and tried to run away, which I knew was no good. He grabbed me and threw me down to the floor and started kicking me. "I knew adopting you was a bad idea!" Yes, you heard right. I'm adopted.

After about ten minutes of beating me senseless, my dad left my room. I didn't move at all. I just lay on the floor curled up in a ball, bleeding and crying. I finally got off the floor an hour later and went to the bathroom. I found a washcloth and cleaned the blood away. I put bandages on some bad cuts but other than that, I didn't do anything. I finished putting bandages on and went to lie on my bed. I noticed it was only about noon and that's when I decided it. I decided I was going to run away tonight and never look back. I fell asleep thinking about how I was going to do it.
